Telling me not to quote the Bible is like telling you not to quote Darwin. If you are sure about what you believe why be afraid for a Christian to use the Bible?
We all exist in the present—and the facts all exist in the present. When one is trying to understand how the evidence came about (Where did the animals come from? How did the fossil layers form? etc.), what we are actually trying to do is to connect the past to the present.
However, if we weren’t there in the past to observe events, how can we know what happened so we can explain the present? It would be great to have a time machine so we could know for sure about past events.
Christians of course claim they do, in a sense, have a ‘time machine’. They have a book called the Bible which claims to be the Word of God who has always been there, and has revealed to us the major events of the past about which we need to know. On the basis of these events (Creation, Fall, Flood, Babel, etc.), we have a set of presuppositions to build a way of thinking which enables us to interpret the evidence of the present.
Evolutionists have certain beliefs about the past/present that they presuppose, e.g. no God (or at least none who performed acts of special creation), so they build a different way of thinking to interpret the evidence of the present.
Thus, when Christians and non-Christians argue about the evidence, in reality they are arguing about their interpretations based on their presuppositions.
You might not believe the Bible but I do. And I believe it gives me the right basis to understand this universe and correctly interpret the facts around me.The Bible explains the world and is not contradicted by science.

You know you put me in a bit of a quandary here. I believe that evolution is the big answer here. It will still be quite the answer so far. It is good that you have asked this question and are excluded the 'Bible thumpers' because they, generally thinking, look for proofs of the Bible rather than opening their eyes to this most incredibly volatile Universe of ours. I really think it stinks when we, in this complex all complex eyes of ours, demands to be 'chosen' over that of millions of dying people to receive special treatment by the will of God."

Evolution exists.
Even if the Fundy element chooses to dismiss the archaeological record, there have been "modern" examples of localized evolution as various insects have changed their co louring to adapt to the environmental damage (mainly leaf discolouration) cause by Man's pollution. Only in the areas where the local industry has been consistent for several hundred years.

evolution is not a fact, it is a theory. well grounded with plenty of evidence and a proven technique that has been applied to artificial systems and the like with success too now.
did you know, something like 35% of americans take the bible literally. bloomin ell. you realise it has passages in it saying that disbelievers should be kileld right? (deutronomy somewhere sp). shirely dont take the bible literally, treat it as it may well have been intended anyway, and religion can coexist with evolution theory just fine.
oh yeah i believe in evolution, and i believe in it because of the overwhelming array of evidence that fits the theory.
"why arent we still evolving like that"
- every time a new strain of the cold or whatever kicks in, rendering current antibiotics useless, evolution by natural selection has taken place. mutated strains of viruses have popped up (the human variant of BSE)..this is also evolution in action by mutation. these 2 principles form the basis of the theory. mutation and natural selection.

i do believe in evolution and it is apparent. All throught manking, we have had dramatical changes, from hairiness, to height and our mental capacity...i do believe that we did evolve from apes because our gene makeup is so similar, especially those chromosomes, and the facial similarities is astounding..I do believe in God and i think he somehow has something in evolution but im not sure...and yeah, the bible has no proof of evolution

I do not believe in evolution. Things came into being out of nowhere, for no apparent reason, things started crashing/joining one another, then they divided and made millions and millions of changes??? Sure. That's real easy to believe (NOT) As atheists & evolution-ests beleive, no one created or made life, so life started because-------------- (fill in the blank.) Life, the world, everything, is just too complex, too much, too great, for there not be a creator.

Scientists explain everything clear back to the big bang. But what about all of the matter that came from it? That is as far as scientists usually go. But matter couldn't have come from nowhere.
If evolution of the species were true, the entire fossil record should be complete with the simplest of life forms showing a clear linkage to all other higher life forms. Yet, there are numerous "missing links" between all of the species.

I do not believe in evolution. There are some variations going on such as the AIDS virus however that AIDS virus will never evolved to a mouse. I don't believe my ancestors were apes. I see apes and people but I don't see the inbetween people except in textbooks. I am Christian and believe in God because it is harder not to believe in God than to believe in Him.

I believe that we were created by God in his image, but there is a certain amount of evolving that everyone has to do and every thing has to do. Do I believe that we came down from trees???? NO, if so why aren't the apes still doing it today???
