Christians don't blame Jews for anything. Jesus was a Jew.
We pray for Israel and for the peace of Jerusalem.

God accounts people for their own wrong doings. The Jews of Jesus times who instigated his death were guilty of his blood, but we have to remember that all of first generation of Christians were Jews.

Actually your question was answered by apostle Paul in Romans chapter 9, 10 and 11. It was advantageous for us that the Jews rejected Christ so that the Grace of God would be pass on us gentiles.

"why were the jews still blamed for his death"

True Christians don't blame anyone but God for Jesus' death and they are glad that the Father put Him to death for our sakes. But if you want to know why people might blame the Jews then look at this passage.

Matthew 27:22 Pilate said to them, "Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?" They all said, "Let him be crucified!" 23 And he said, "Why, what evil has he done?" But they shouted all the more, "Let him be crucified!" 24 So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of this man's blood; see to it yourselves." 25 And all the people answered, "His blood be on us and on our children!"

Jesus didn't die. He just played dead.

Some crackheads thinks that he's still alive, and he hangs with Elvis, and George Washington.

Some apostles said that he went straight to heaven.

Other apostles said that he walked around and talked to people a bit. I'm not sure which one's telling the truth. But, I think the crakheads are right. What do you think?

It's not so much that we "blame them" but historically just as Judas turned him over to the Pharisee's it is they who brought the charges, but we should all take responsibility of his death because he died in everyone of our place.

Jack is right, but it can illuminate things about the human condition, forget trying to make the Bible consistent, it can't be done.
