discover new evidence that would in turn cause your to reject your past presumptions and instead take new ones?

Basically, (in relation to religion), would (atheists) seek to discover evidence as to the existence of a sentient primal mover or (theists) the non-existence of such a cause?

I would learn and find evidence. I don't care if I'm wrong, just as long as I realize I made a mistake. I don't want to live my life believing in something that is false. I find it unlikely that I would find proof of a higher being, but if I do, I made a mistake, I'll fix it.

Both.
But since I know I have a bias to like data that fits my existing position/philosophy, I try to get my conscious mind to allow for that.

Otherwise there is created what Charles Fort referred to as "The Damned": reports that are not even considered. Dismissed unexamined because they doesn't fit the the pre-existing paradigm.
(that doesn't mean the dismissed reports have to be good or reliable... but that evaluation doesn't even get made!)

"Objectivity cannot be equated with mental blankness; rather, objectivity resides in recognizing your preferences and then subjecting them to especially harsh scrutiny—and also in a willingness to revise or abandon your theories when the tests fail (as they usually do)." Stephen Jay Gould.

In relation to religion, my position has always been a hunt for truth. It's led me to change my position more than once, at the cost of comfort and convenience.

Without a doubt B. My truths can only ever be truths until proven untrue.

I admit I don't know anything for certain if I haven't experienced it first hand, but as an agnostic spiritualist I'm game to listen to other evidence and if I can be convinced, I'm more than happy to change my views! Don't know about aliens yet but I saw a UFO once in a non-military city and others saw it to so ..... first contact!

STONE COLD - that's a pic of Albert Einstein, you cretin.
