the word 'pais' in greek is used to refer to jesus christ in the bible

this word is translated as 'son' while it also has a second meaning: 'slave'

so why would bible translators use only one meaning and not the other?

I've been reading a lot lately about religion and I'm trying to figure out what to do. I have very unique beliefs and haven't been able to find a christian denomination that agrees with all of my views. Would I be better off just developing a one on one relationship with God and/or go to a non denominational christian church? Or is there a way to determine which denomination most suits my beliefs and view on life.

if christians still ask for forigivness and repetance, then what was the point of Jesus crucifiction?

when we say Jesus die for everyone sins we are putting the bad people, criminals, and good people in one equal line. let's not say things about God except with the truth. God all merciful all powerful he forgave before and will forgive after, no one need to die so God forgive people sins, everyone responsible for his deeds. heaven is not for free without real work and try your best to follow God words.

Considering how long it can take the courts to convict someone of rape and/or incest (not counting the appeals), wouldn't a woman/girl made pregnant by those means have already delivered by the time the perpetrator is convicted?

After all, you're not going to want to let anyone have an abortion just because she says she was raped. And while there may be a lot of evidence of a rape, it isn't officially a rape until a court of law declares it was.

And by that time, the pregnancy has come to term and no abortion is possible.

So when you offer rape and incest as exceptions, aren't you chuckling up your sleeve because you know no one will get that exception because no one can be convicted of rape and/or incest in time for an aborton to occur?

Time for some make-nice. Take a minute to say something nice about another religion. Do not say something nice about another faction of YOUR OWN religion i.e baptists, pentecostals. Dont bash another religion (I never use the report button, but in this instance i will) It may be helpfull to state your own faith

I'll go first.
I'm Pagan- I admire the passion wit which Islamics approach their faith, and the way it's a part of everything they do

Seriously, go get a copy of the Bill of Rights. It does not say seperation of church and state, it says goverment may not respect an establishment of religion. Meaning church cannot be the goverment, churches cannot be tax free (which i believe some actually are).

It does not mean religion cannot be on public property. Seriously, does it really bother people THAT much?

nb, this was before I was Christian. But I am wondering what would have been the correct way to respond had I been Christian back then.

When my ex husband of 7months marriage found out I was pregnant (he took risks too, I didn't trick him!) he gave me the choice between having an abortion or a divorce. I actually divorced him on the grounds of adultery, because he started seeing another woman less than a month after this, and I didn't want my children to know the real reason for the divorce.
Bearing in mind that to remarry (and one day I might) can be classified as adultery...
Bearing in mind that if I hadn't accepted the idea of divorce then I would have had to have killed my baby...

What is the correct way to deal with this situation as a Christian?

I met a smart and very beautiful girl who goes to a church near my house. While I was walking by, I saw her struggling moving some boxes from her car into the church and I helped her. Afterwards, we talked and exchanged numbers. But she told me she would only go on a date with me after I went to church with her and her family.

I really would like to date this girl, not just because she's good looking but also because she seems intelligent and we converse very easily. But I would feel like a real charlatan going to church, since I don't believe in God at all. Should I just go to church with her once so I'll have a shot with her?

What I don't understand is why the government is trying to take Christianity out of our schools? If America is founded on the beliefs of the Bible "Under God", not Yaweh or Allah, why is the government trying to remove Christian values out of the schools? I don't want to hear that Yaweh, Allah and God are all the same God b/c in the Torah and Koran the god seems to be evil, and full of hatred. America is slowly going down hill; soon this whole country will be believing in false religions. Its ashame that Islam is rapidly gaining more and more members, surpassing Christianity. Can someone please share with me their views and opinions on this subject.

I mean, If I were god I would use my magic god powers to smite the romans, build a church, and lead my followers to a kingdom of god.

But all he did was hang on a cross and get stabbed by a spear. Why would god do that?

Every time I post an answer, even if I actually answered the question better than others, I get a thumbs down. I'm trying to answer from a biased point of view (when I'm not being a sarcastic asshole) and then if I say anything like "Well, God might not exist, but he might," I get a thumbs down. Is this because I'm thinking independently? I'm trying to say he/she could exist! That's not questioning, that's just a biased point of view! This is a logical site, isn't bias encouraged? So either you're being a total *** or some people just like to give everything thumbs down for fun. Just, please, get some sense and knock it out.

Growing up, my Church wasn't like that, WE weren't like that--we took science classes and PASSED! We were taught to vote on real issues, the church didn't try to sway us--now even the most Christian members of my family have stopped going to church, too corrupt for them--Do modern day "fundies" and "Xians" have any clue that this is not the way the church used to be?
