I did as well a long time ago at the urging of my mother. I was in a bad relationship at the time with a very abusive and sexually perverse man. I naively thought this would help my situation but it only set the stage for more abuse from followers. I was just the sort of person they were looking for, weak, insecure, damaged, scared, hopeless... But God was with me showing me and telling me that it was all a farce. My life has improved a million fold since that time. I will never go back. It is just another abusive and perverse relationship.

I did. Apparently, according to the Christians, I was never saved in the first place - well I suppose they would know. The difference now is that I know who I am and that I never needed to be saved in the first place. If I need to be saved then God never loved me in the first place.

I was brought up around christianity and even went to a religious private school from K-12. While I was in Jr. High I started to think "What the hell is the point of this?" and in high school I really believed there is no point to this crap! I am not a christian and proud of it!

You threw the baby out with the bathwater. You should have looked at opposing theologies before making that final decision. But if atheism(?) is your new theology, you're putting your faith, your devotion, your hope, into...nothing, as a Higher Power. If that's right for you, I'm scratching my head as to why. That would be depressing to think that there's nothing else out there, no "right" except what is right to you. Hopefully you at least found something besides nothingness to worship.

Ex-christian here, but I was brought up that way, I've never been "born again"....is that what you meant by "got saved"? Grew up knowing how to spout the words & stuff, but can't ever remember actually believing any of it. =)

hmmm, i don't consider it as much leaving as branching out and growing. for me it was the harsh realization of the political nature of the christian church and not the comfort of friendship as i had desired. if there is no difference between the christianity and the rest world the truth is i never left anything and am better for it.

I did. My family contains about a dozen ministers, and I was in seminary when I finally decided the church was not benefiting me or anyone. Because of my enculturation, it took a bit longer to reach the conclusion that the entire idea of God was superstition.

I personally believe that if you are truly saved then you can't leave. But you never know only God truly knows. I will keep you in my thoughts and will pray for you. Have a wonderful day!

By "Saved", according to christians here, they mean brainwashed to the point of no return 'till the day you die.

So I guess nobody has really done what you asked about.

They either think christianity is bs or they are what I meantioned above.
