Please don't spit verses at me, I've been a Christian for 56 years and what I need is some sound Christian advice. I have what they call a "prophet personality" which means justice is so so big for me. I realize vengeance it mine sayeth the Lord and I don't want vengeance, but some really unfair, Christian things were done to me by a former boss/principal and because of it I lost my job, health, income and all and I truly was totally innocent in it all, it was the usual power play.,Now this man is still very involved in a big church and I want to discuss what happened now that I'm retired and so is he, but I need a neutral 3rd party to hold both of us accountable, except i don;'t lie and it is his favorite way to travel. But I am being prodded by God to get it off my burdened heart and also so He will be aware of what he is doing. I live in a small type town in Or and have for 32 years and so has he so everyone knows everyone. any suggestions ?

I keep getting private messages from religious people laying into me about me asking questions about Satan and generally being of these scary Agnostic guys.

Can I make a public announcement that to send private mail in abusive manners is jolly nasty, and rather than renouncing the devil, can you renounce the demons of stupidy and realise that I'm inquisitive, not satanic!

So, to make this a question, does god invoke an element of stupidity into a small portion of his followers? Or is the devil just masquerading as a follower to throw me off his trail?

I was on the bus one day and sat across from a Muslim woman and her children. A blind man got on the bus with his seeing-eye dog and sat down. The woman and her teenaged daughter got all uppity and looked insulted and finally rang the bell and dragged the children off the bus, walking passed the dog as though it was diseased. What was that all about?

PS. My followers will be guaranteed eternal salvation… along with an endless supply of peanut M&M’s (or plain for those disciples with peanut allergies. Although with my omni-impotent abilities I could dispose of peanut allergies altogether. But as the creator of the universe I work in mysterious ways, so I won’t. Nor will I tell you why – just believe it’s for a good reason – no matter how unfathomable that might be to your puny human minds to comprehend right now. Who’s with me?

PSS You better hurry because the M&M’s are almost gone.

I have heard many people talk about the churches only wanting money and whatnot, but I am a person who tithes one every paycheck. I have found that in times when we didn't tithe, our finances were worse than in times that we do. Recently we were in a position where we didn't know if we were even going to be able to buy groceries that week, we tithed and when we got out of church there was a message from a friend wanting to know if my husband could do some side work for him, he would pay in advance if needed. I almost started crying.

I was just wondering if anyone else who pays a tithe or offering receive back from God in this way?

Does it give you peace?
Does it help you to learn more about the Bible?
Does it allow you to be tolerant of others who have different beliefs?
Do you feel that yours is the only right religion? If so, why?

so that the Earth does not tilt. See Qur'an, Suras 79:30 (And the Earth after that He(Allah) FLATTENED it.; and 18:47 (and you will see the earth a leveled plain).

The Jewish/Christian Bible revealed that the earth is round in Isaiah 40:22 and via Job (26:7). Speaking of God in Isaiah 40:22, the Jewish/Christian Bible says; "It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. Funny isn't it, that the Bible said the earth was a "circle", even when everyone believed the earth was flat". Job 26:7 says, "He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing".

I am trying to recall the name and artists of a duet that came out a few years ago (maybe 2001?). It was a male and a female, and the only line I remember is something about "children leave their Sunday School with smiles" or something. That may not even be right. I know this is obscure, but any leads would be helpful. I want to say it was a track on the male artist's album, but again, I can't be sure.
Thanks!

How exactly do they know which god he is?

I'd be mortified if I had a life changing event and saw a man with a beard and sandals, turned christian for 30 years and then when I died, Allah turns up and gives me a cuff round the ear for not paying attention.

No one has seen God. God cannot be seen thru an instrument. If God is true then he must be visible/apparent. Are we living in a Godless void? Buddha says - there is no one to save you. You have to salvage yourself- no one else can do it for you. Just as a hungry man cannot be satisfied by someone else eating on his behalf, same way none can save anyone else. If God exists there must be order, harmony, peace in the world. God might have satisfied all. God could ensure perfection and happiness in every one's life . He could have ensured disease free & death free world. But NO. It appears THERE IS NO GOD. Buddha says -- There is no God but THERE IS DEVIL since there is pain , disease & death in the world. One creature is eating another one- which proves that the devil is in control. But Buddha says you need to fight it out. Some one may ask how various creatures came into being , someone(God) might have created them, but I ask why not ; cells might have learnt to live together.

i noted loads of answerers like to quote bible when answering questions as though it represents all the truth. Yea, one may argue that bible holds all God's words or codes if you like, but how the hell would they know or possibly know? I can't help but feel that its the behavior of blind faith.
Give me an Oxford advanced dictionary, i could tell you lots of truth or codes from it, you see my points? This thread is by no means trying to demean Christianity but trying to point out the danger of over relying on a single book to preach a relegion.

Deu 23:2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

Zac 9:6 And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.

Heb 12:8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

If you still didn't see anything wrong with that then I shall tell you:

The word "bastard" was used in all of these verses, the guy lost his cool because other people didn't listen to him... I ain't letting my sister come anywhere near the Bible because she might learn bad language...

I've found myself doing it, why?

Why oh why do a large percentage of religious followers instantly treat people who ask questions with such utter discontempt?

It seems on here that asking a question is almost against some peoples belief's!?

I've never heard a religious follower say "no offence mate, but you should try some is this buddhiststuff, it's seriously easy going".

Why do we feel the need the pitter patter around them when they feel no need to do the same to us?

And for the record, this is not intended to be offensive, it's a factual observation of recent events from posters here on YA.

So I just asked this question without adding my own details and got a bunch of half-*** answers. So Christians believe there is a god, atheists do not. I think it is just as rediculous for somebody to claim there is no god as it is to claim there is a god. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE EITHER WAY. Sure there is a gigantic amount of improbability working against believers, but how can anybody claim there is no god. It doesn't make sense. In The God Delusion, Dawkins explains this by using varying degrees of belief (google it.) If I remember correctly, Dawkins would tend to agree with me. As a raional, scientific person (like most atheists claim to be) how can you claim something without evidence? You do know there is no evidence to suggest there isn't a god, right? Just as there's no evidence to support the existence of a god. It makes about as much sense as a Muslim and Christian trying to proove their way is the right way, the true way.

people are in the city who have their 'robes washed in the blood of the lamb'
people outside the city are 'the dogs, sorcerers, evildoers... etc ...etc..

there are only two groups... one is with Jesus forever... the other are condemned...
where does one see three groups here as claimed by Russelists: the 144,000 special group, the other redeemed and the anihalated... or is that clearly a mistaken interpretation in the light of the last Bible's closeing word on the subject?

1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, 2 "Say to the Israelites: 'Of all the animals that live on land, these are the ones you may eat: 3 You may eat any animal that has a split hoof completely divided and that chews the cud.

4 " 'There are some that only chew the cud or only have a split hoof, but you must not eat them. The camel, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is ceremonially unclean for you. 5 The coney, [a] though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is unclean for you. 6 The rabbit, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is unclean for you. 7 And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. 8 You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.
