There are billions of things in our universe that the naked eye will never ever be able to see, not even with the most highly advance technological systems this world offers. Why do you put such high stakes in proof/evidence and sight?

You can see far more through the eyes of faith than through the physical eyes of sight. You can see far more with understanding than you could see without this God given intelligence. Surely you must know in your deepest heart that you are not alone in this universe. That there is a God who cares for you.

Christians, why is it important to you (if it is) that you interpret the Bible literally? This may seem like an odd question but think about it. Different sects of Christians can quote different words when reading the same passage, because no one is reading the original translation. If you can read Hebrew and Greek that's great, but for everyone else, how can you claim to understand the literal meaning of the text if you can't read it?

This isn't meant to be a jab at Christianity. I don't see why Christians can't take the spirit of the words instead of arguing over literal meaning. Does God only speak in literal truth? Is there no value in symbol and story? It doesn't seem like it takes anymore of a leap of faith than belief itself. And if you don't read the original language, how can you tell another Christian his meaning is wrong?

I could apply this to Muslims and the Qur'an as well but they seem to be reading Arabic more often.

In some states you can go to a pharmacy and get these red pills that will kill you. This man bought them that was terminally ill. He thought it was nice to know that he always had an option if things got too tough. This story was on the news a little while ago. What do you think?

I personally dont think this should be allowed. Terminally ill patients should be able to use it in certain situations, but hink of how many depressed teens and adults would steal these pills and abuse them. What are we really creating with this product? The right to suicide.

I'm wondering what the devout Christians will be thinking when Jesus returns, takes one look around, and says, "I was born a Jew, my mother was a Jew, I grew up a Jew, I preached as a Jew, I died as a Jew. Would you 'Christians', who are not among God's 'chosen people', please take the heavenly elevator down with Josef Mendele?"

When i was smaller, my mother told me that she dreamed that she was crossing a river with my sister and i (we are twins). Sudenly water started coming from all direction and seemed to be covering us. Dirty water i mean.

At the same she held up her ahnd and cried " father i stretch my hands to thee no ther help i know"..then suddenly a rock began to grow beneath us. It grow and bent itself over and placed us securly on the other side of the river bank.

Today, of all the children my mother had (seven), only my sister and i have graduated from highschool, go to college and have a serious career.

My mother was and is a Christian. She has been throughmany strugles.

She is a 10 month old Yorkie/Silky Mix and just recently she has been refusing to eat any breakfast and will only eat dinner at 8:00 at night. Is it the hot summer weather? Is she only eating when it gets cool out? Or is she just growing out of puppy hood and wating only one meal a day? Or maybe she is sick. This has been going on for two weeks and i am going on vacation in two weeks and i really need to know what is wrong with her before i leave.

Why does the religious teaching focus more on the intellectual than on the spiritual? They seem to talk to the mind but have forgotten that spirituality is about the heart as well.

for example in Islam, prophet Muhammad can not mix his words with God words (the Quran). so God words has been collected in a book called "Quran", while the words of prophet Muhammad collected in a book called "Hadith" if you compare the two books you find alot of difference. However, with the Bible the words of God got mixed with the words of Jesus got mixed with the words of the preacher and priest. and that what cause the confusion.

how about Adam and Eve, Nuh, Abraham, Issac, David, Sollomon, Moses?

how about Jesus himself?

"my God, my God, why haven't you forsaken me?"
"Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One".

17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
1st commandment: you shall not take other gods before Me!

Deuteronomy 4:39
"The LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else. "

1 Corinthians 8:6
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him.

Theists say things like this:

"By faith Christians understand that God created the world. We understand that it is not a result of random chaos. We understand this because God has said it in His word. Some scientists appeal to their own hypothesis of creation and reject God's word. But Christians appeal to God's word rejecting scientific hypothesis which stand in opposition to God and His word."

My question is: What makes you prefer faith? What makes you think faith is valid? Also, in what way is faith different from wishful thinking, e.g. having faith that your lottery numbers will come up soon, even though there is no connection between what you wish were true and what will actually happen?

Note: I'm not asking for answers like "because it says so in the Bible" but rather "I believe what it says in the Bible *because*..."

Thanks...

Just a quick question for the actively practicing religious people out there. I'm wondering how much sexual contact you are allowed before marriage. Is oral sex permitted, how about mutual masturbation, for instance is a religious woman allowed to touch a mans penis before marriage?

How about after marriage what is permissible then?

I'm asking this because some of my friends are christian and catholic and they find it uncomfortable when I bring up this topic with them. Also I have looked around and can't seem to find a definitive list anywhere on the internet. I know many people will tell me that it is up to the individual, but what is the collective view of the church.
