I don't see how it could possibly be considered worse than adultery, even by the prissiest of "Christians."
Of course I dispute the whole notion of "sin;" it's simply a vestige of primitive savagery, a way of explaining why the totemic "god" of the tribe failed to make it rain when petitioned - "He's mad at us."
But the Bible usually ranks homosexuality as a "sin" right alongside adultery and divorce. Why then do so many Christians emphasize the proscription on homosexuality but ignore the ones on divorce (among the hundreds of others they ignore)? Because they're hypocrites.
If we're going to try to be reasonable about it - first of all, NO, of COURSE homosexuality is not a "choice." If you make the "choice" to be gay, it's obviously because you're hardwired to make that choice - so it's NOT a choice. "Well, it's your choice to act on it!" Yeah, it is. Just as it's every straight person's choice to "act on" his sexuality. To discriminate between the two is simply penny-plain hypocrisy. "Well, if it's OK to act on homosexual impulses, then I suppose it's also OK to act on the impulse to pedophilia?" Well, no - the difference, obviously, is that child molestation is a despicable violation of somebody else's will. But people love to confuse "perversions" so that they can irrationally hate homos the same way they rationally hate pedophiles etc. If two grown adults consent to engage in a sexual act, it is simply nobody else's business - it's not a question of "morality" at all. And as for God, I simply cannot conceive of the almighty Creator and Sustainer of the Universe and all that it contains taking an obsessive interest in the sex lives of His creation.

According to the bible no one sin is any worse than the other although, it does say that homosexuality is an abomination against God. About rather or not homosexuality is a choice or a behavior. I'm not sure it's either after watching a documentary on it the other night on 60 minutes. They actually showed two identical twins who were raised by the same mom, with the same genetic make up, from the time of birth until they were fully grown. One of the twins was feminine from age 15 months and wanted to play with barbies and dress like a little girl while the other was full boy who wanted to play with gi joes and cars. They think that sometimes it can be hormones that are out of wack while still in the mothers womb. Scientist used to think it was due to overbearing moms and dads who weren't around enough to have an impact in their kids life and i'm sure this still has some bearing on homosexuality today along with some doing it for attention only at younger ages but, it does seem that there are new factors coming into play with each decade of study so i can't actually say rather i believe it's a choice or a behavior but it is a very good question. I hope you get some intelligent feed back on this because i too am a little curious as to what others have to say as well.
Have a good day Sandra.

No, all sins are equal. The bible says that if we have transgressed part of the law, we have transgressed the whole law.
Homosexuality, defined as homosexual action, is a choice and behavior. People don't choose to be tempted by homosexuality however.
It's just like people who, have, say, difficulty with their anger. Some people don't have a problem with it. It isn't the persons choice that they have a tendency to great anger. It is, however, their choice whether or not they act on it.

According to the Bible, sexual sin is one of the worst.
People can choose behaviors so its not that they are one thing or the other. For instance a criminal can choose criminal behavior. Homosexuality is like it in that it is a sinful state of being that is either chosen or rejected.

If it's not a choice then it's most certainly not a sin. If it's a sin, then there's no such thing as homosexuality, because you could always chose the opposite at any time.

It is called sexual immorality which includes fornication and adultry.
"The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."
(Those who practice such things alienate themselves from God)
It is a choice and one that can be overcome with God's help and accurate Bible knowledge.
"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."----1 CORINTHIANS 6:9-11

"A Better Fate" said all that needs to be said:
1) It's not a sin.
2) Gay people are born gay.
As a straight male, I honestly do not understand why the question...choice or not a choice...is still falling from the lips of presumably intelligent Americans. For a straight male to insist that being gay is a choice, is to say that, "I like women but I could be gay if I chose to be." Really?

Sin is breaking the commandments of God, and any wrong done to self, or others.
Homosexuality, may or may not be a choice, I am not to judge that.
However any life style, and the acts we commit therein are most definitively a choice, with all the rewards or consequences thereof.

According to the bible there is no sin that is better or worse - they are all sin.
I don't think gays choose to be gay - it can sometimes be the result of their environment or who they choose to associate with, but most are simply not attracted to the opposite sex.
I don't have any problem with them - most are fairly nice people. I don't believe in sin anyway - so if they have found someone who makes them happy - then more power to them.
