First, truth is an aspect of the nature of God himself. Thus, to put on truth is to put on Christ. For Christ is "truth" (John 14:6) and Christians are to be bearers of truth.
"You are a king, then!' said Pilate, Jesus answered, 'You are right in saying that I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of the truth listens to me.'"What is Truth?" Pilate asked.
You asked What is truth? The answer is simple! Jesus is the truth!

The Truth to a certain extent, is the opposite of The Ly to me. If it is true that you know that this question was asked by Pons Pilate you must know what Jesus answered, so why do you ask this question...

In the bible, we can read in John 17:17,
"Sanctify them in the truth: thy word is truth. "
One truth mentioned in the bible is 'the word of God'.
Let's read another verse, in John 14:6,
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me. "
The Lord Jesus Christ is the truth.
How important is it to know the truth?
Let's read in John 8:32,
"and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
truth shall make us free.
Free from what?
Let's read in verse 34,
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Every one that committeth sin is the bondservant of sin. "
