Are there any instances where someone has actually gone blind from either masturbating or looking at porn? If so, please let me know.

Also, I heard that Sheikh Omar Abdur-Rahmen (a.k.a. The Blind Sheikh) when blind from masturbating, but then he found religion later on. Has anyone else heard about this?

When a person has lived properly and acted generously, he grasps the way things are. He is not dependent on attachments; he is free from anger and aversions; what he does becomes perfect action.

The pureness of perfectly balanced action based on seeing the way things are--this is freedom and the ending of ignorance.

Excuse my ignorance.

As a Christian, I want to say there is no conflict between religion and science. All the great scientific discoveries in medicine, electronics, space travel. physics, astronomy, and other fields have no conflict with Bible teachings, and in fact many of our greatest scientists were Christians.

But when it comes to the fields of cosmic and biological evolution, the scientist have crossed the line from science to philosophy. A deffinition of science is knoledge, specifically knowledge obtained by observation and experimentation. Since no one has ever observed cosmic or biological evolution, or can perform experiments in the labatory in these fields, they are by deffinition outside the fields of science, and be considered unprovable theories, fit only for the philosophy class.

Does anyone here agree with me that evolution is not a science, and that we should rely on the Bible to direct us into all truths?

1. Atheism based on science claims that since there is no scientific evidence of God he must not exist, Occam's razor is used frequently as well.

2. Atheists that rely on science to back them fail to realize that since science came AFTER religion, the burden of proof rests in the hands of those making an opposite claim to an established system.

3. Atheists that base their views in science fail to realize that in order to have their views based in science the observation that God does not exist must go through the scientific process just like everything else. There is no scientifically provable fact that has not undergone scrutiny.

4. Pascals wager means that the scientific atheist takes a bigger risk in assuming that God does not exist than the believer since the believer has nothing to lose. If one says, "they lose their freedom" I will be the first to tell you you are incorrect. coming to God is a free choice and you are free to leave, you as an atheist should know first hand.

You hear all the time about how people convert to Christianity from another religion, or to another sect of Christianity, or to Islam, or to Buddhism, or to paganism.

But, how come people aren't converting to Judaism?

BTW, I am Catholic, and have no intention on converting to any other religion. Personally, I believe that Christianity fulfills the Old Testiment prophecies, therefore there is no need to convert to a religion that is waiting for something to happen what already has. However, I do not feel that this has anything to do with it.

Opinions please...

Why do the religious love to use the "cause and effect" argument all the time? i.e. "every effect has a cause", they then go back and say the universe had to have a cause, and that cause was a sky fairy. Well what makes the sky fairy the truncating factor in this infinite regress? Why is this fictitious character not also subject to a cause? I'm curious how many people will say time does not bind god, or that he works outside time...ha, what a cop out. But seriously, why do you feel a sky fairy has to be the truncating part of the regress? Why will you not even consider the possibility that something made your god, and I would postulate that humans created god.

I am 23 yrs old and since I was a teenager I grew apart from God (I grew up in a religious family) and decided to take other ways. Since then I have always felt holes that I felt needed to be filled with other things like alcohol, money, sex, love, ect. I would still feel the same emptiness and even get signs from God that what I actually needed was Him and I knewe it the whole time. But still I Ignored the signs and went on with my life. Now I truly need His help figuring out my life and my purpose because I know He is the only one who could actually help me with my problems. Will He forgive me and help me and answer my prayers even after Ive ignored Him? Any biblical verses of inspiration or hope maybe? I really need it.

Do you think it fell down from the sky, leather-bound and complete with Table of Contents (Canon)?

Did you know there is an Apocalipse of Peter that was read among the first Christians and that in the Councils of Hippo (393 AD) and Cartage (397 AD) St. Augustin argued that the Apocalipse of Jonh and not the one of Peter should be in the Bible and that is how you have it in your Bible now?

Hint: see what Luther said in his Commentary on St. John, chapter 16, “We are compelled to concede to the Papists that they have the Word of God, that we received it from them, and that without them, we should have no knowledge of it at all.”
