Where child support or money is concerned or where a disagreement has occured, even with grandparents. Is it not better to let that child see people who love them? Or is it better that the child never know those who love it?

...What does he do for unbelievers like me?

If He ordered Abraham to commit infanticide, and imposed similar horrors on other faithful believers, surely He could do something similar for atheists? If He wished to 'test' my disbelief, he could easily mess it up by tempting me toward faith in some way.

Shallow, hedonistic heathen that I am, almost anything would do: sex, drugs, money - even just a few scientific facts - would easily make a believer out of me. How come this deity who supposedly loves me is not prepared to throw a little something my way to save my soul, when He tortures his servants so badly just to prove a point?

During a phone conversation several months ago, he asked, "Dad, you know I'm not what someone would call a religious person. But, do you think there is any connection between the school shootings and the removal of prayer from school? When you were a kid, (I'm 51) they didn't have mass killings but the school day was started with prayer. Now, there is no prayer, but there are shootings."

The question I'm asking is there any connection between the massacres we are experiencing today and the removal of prayer in our public schools?

does the bible not say, do not judge? where in the bible does it say that you have the right to condemn (for example) a muslim to hell for being classified as a muslim instead of a christian?
i thought that believing in the one ultimate god was what mattered? if a muslim believes in the one ultimate god and a christian believes in the one ultimate god, dont they both believe in the one ultimate god? and beings there only is ONE ultimate god, doesnt that mean they both believe in the same one?

Many people on this very site mock Christianity. I think it is very odd that the non believers come here and check out what it is that the believers answer and ask. I believe that many people who criticize the Lord and ask foolish questions are wondering about their very own faith, why else would they be in the religious Q&A? Many people who are Atheist consider Atheism to be a culture and not a religion, so why don't they go into Culture & Groups Q&A and ask and answer there? All I can gather is that they are stuck and wondering about the Lord, faith, and our very own existence. That is why they choose to come in the Religion & Spirituality Q&A. No matter how they mock us... why can't they admit they're curious?

I know a lot of people may have been asking the same favour. But I really believe in true and selfless supports, I believe in miracles, wishful thinking. So it is extremly important for me to feel that you are here with me no matter what.

Today is a very important day for me. I am waiting for an answer (a call) that can change my whole life positively. So will you please pray with me so that I can receive that call. I'll be merciful for everyone of you. Cause I believe that we can all together change everything into good if belive in it.

God bless you all.

Hi, I was searching my Bible for a nice piece of scripture to bless a Minister, his wife and their child as they have moved into their new home. However I haven't been able to find something that really moves me - perhaps you good people on Yahoo answers could suggest something appropriate? Thanking you in anticipation of your help.

Ok we have all heard that the bible is the one true book of god and that the christian god is the one true god. In general, absolute truth can be proven, or shown, or somehow reaffirmed with a fact, or logic, or reasoning. Why is the bible and the christian god exempt from this general rule?

2) Birthdays, y not celebrate them, i have been led 2 believe that this is personal choice and not against the scriptures, so y not bother, Im not a huge present fan but an acknowledgement wouldnt hurt surely?
3) Blood. y do u not accept blood donations, the paragraph that u take the instruction from that says 'thou shall not take another mans blood' is from a paragraph on not murdering another, as im sure youll agree blood transfusions werent common place 2007 yrs ago!
4) armageddon, y would u believe only so many of u off 2 heaven? And vultures, come on! and y recruit more competion by knockin on doors, if there only that many palces?

The Quran says: “ O People of the Scripture! Come to an agreement between us and you: that we shall worship none but One Almighty God, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for lords beside Almighty God. (Quran, 3:64)
Jesus Christ said: “it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only’ (Luke 4:8):
(1)God is all knowing: “Would not God find this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart” (Psalms 44:21),”for the Lord is a God who knows” (1Samuel 2:3), and “He reveals deep and hidden things” (Daniel 2:22),
But Jesus was not all knowing: “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father”. (Mark 13:32) and “The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs”. (Mark 11:12-13)

I've seen alot of posts in here by christians saying that we are all "sinners" for not believing in god and the only reason their going is cus Jesus died for them. A few problems here. Jesus had to be shopped in by someone elese!! Are you all forgetting about Judas? Another problem with this thinking is if a child is born with severe disability and an inability to do anything your suggesting that this child is already a wrongdoer in the eyes of your "lord". I personally find this disgusting and if this is the extent to which he'll go to make a few people admit in his existence I'm happy I'm going to hell!

The question is this, how do you look past this and still have faith, or is it just fear?

The kindest person in the world at this moment in time who dedicates their life to helping others, but who doesn't believe in God

or

A lifelong sinner who does believe in God but honestly repents shortly before they die?

I have to admit, i'm not an expert on the Bible but is it true that all non-believers will go to Hell? and if someone repents for their sins they will be forgiven?

I go to a large pentecostal church, where they have what you call 'groups' where you meet up in peoples homes outside the normal Sunday services.

1. I'm shy.
2. I don't like groups, I'm better on a one-to-one.
3. I've been to house groups before where all there was, was
gossip.

I like only to go to the church services on Sundays and then go home. Each Sunday, they always ask the congregation who is in a home group. Of course, my hand never goes up! I get the impression that if we don't go to these groups, then "why are you here". I emailed one of the pastors about how I felt, but received no reply. To have these groups is part of the churche's 'vision'. What do you think? I only like to stay on the fringes.

For those that don't have strong community or family support, it's often a refuge for druggies, hookers, depressed, lonely, diseased, mental illness, marriage breakdowns, sexual issues and the list goes on.

For this aspect, religion is to be commended, but it hardly answers all the big questions, and often smacks of predatory behaviour where any numbers added to the ranks will do..

It surely explains the obvious mental capacity of a few believers/creationists on here anyway..
"God fearing folk saved me from misery, so I'm gonna stand by their fairytales.."

It's a shame that it's a dead end street they've taken though..

Now for some highly entertaining feedback.. Enjoy.

We've all witnessed religion modifying doctrines to maintain validity with it's followers. Some religions more than others. Some just rely on isolating their followers from the outside world. The ones that change do so because their credibility gets undermined, yet the fact that they change undermines their credibility as the truth.

Will this proccess always continue, with people blindly accepting the idea that truth can change so they can avoid having to face the reality of death?

because my dictionary says this :Virgin Mary’s sinlessness: the Roman Catholic doctrine that the Virgin Mary’s soul was free from the stain of original sin from the moment of her soul’s conception.
The term does not, contrary to popular belief, refer to the conception of Jesus Christ.

so i just want to know what it does actually mean.

It's difficult to think about mortality and death. The fact that your existence as a conscious entity ceases to be is hard to face. Perhaps for some people, it is too hard to face, they find themselves unable to accept it, and grab hold of a religious belief to hide behind, thereby avoiding having to face this terrible reality.

Are there theists out there who are aware that their faith makes no sense, but cling to it to avoid the reality of death?
