All the stuff you see in books and on the TV is just a conspiracy?

Amnon was the progeny of David and Ahinoam. Tamar and Absalom were the progeny of David and Maachah. Thus Amnon and Absalom were half-brothers, like Abraham's sons Ishmael and Isaac.

Jewish law forbade Amnon to marry a half-sister, Amnon pretended to be sick. He lured Tamar into his quarters with the pretense that he wanted her to cook a special meal for him, ignored her protests, and raped her. Two years later, Absalom engineered Amnon's death. (2 Samuel 13:1-22)

Instead of giving Justice to his daughter, David failed as a king and judge by not giving death penalty to Amnon.

And Absalom corrected that and gave his sister justice by engineering Amnon's death.

Focusing on this story ONLY, isn't Absalom's justice praiseworthy and David's injustice a shame of a King ?!

I grew up in a Baptist home, my grandfather is a pastor, I went to church every Sunday, sometimes during the week. But lately I have been wondering if the religion I grew up with is really correct. I just see so many flaws in its teachings, so many things in my specific doctrine that I think do not go with what the Bible says. I see so many people today ignoring parts of the Bible or changing them to suit their needs, and it makes me wonder if religion is everything that I have been told it was. My church always said that you have to follow the Bible word for word...but I see so many churches today that are not doing that. I think I am beginning to become an atheist, but I still have a few ideas about religion stuck with me, such as that the Bible should be taken word for word, and not taken here and there. It just seems like there are so many ways to interpret the Bible....but who is right? Am I in the wrong for questioning my religion like this? No one wants to talk to me about this.

Aren't priests and nuns going against the nature?
Isn't the Bible contradictory sometimes?
(No offense to my fellow Christian brothers, just asking.)

Science without meaning is dead.

Religion without reasoning is lame.

If i were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes.

But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense.
If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as a sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school and by parents, hesitation to believe in its existence would become eccentricity.

hmmmmmmm =) ...

Say something intelligent if you are going to reply and not just "may god save you" or something like that.

I was a christian for 20 years and now an atheist.

Science never seems to have a system of measurment in dealing with good and evil. The closest thing is psychology. Science never seems to ask the "why" questions. Science only seems concerned with the "what" and "how" questions. Can science be enhanced by beginning to ask "why" questions or is such a task left only to religious and philosophical thinkers?

Ok, hear me out, I am Atheist. I've read articles refering to us as the "New Gay." Think about it seriously for a moment. As an Atheist, how "in the closet" are you? I know there are people I dont discuss it with, and it took me a while to tell my parents. So, what do you think? Are Atheist's the "New Gays?"

I believe that science is true but it is not "truth." What I mean is that science can only answer a certain number of things and what is beyond that is left to religion, philosophy, or just speculation. Seriously, can any scientist tell me with "proof" about what happened before the big bang, and how the big bang got started? Look at how vast the universe is, and look at what pee-ons humans are compared to the infinity of the known and unknown. Science is giving humans the idea that they have knowledge and power over infinity. This is about as ridiculous as an ant thinking that he is superior over a run-away train.

I do. I feel like if someone else had my circumstances, talents, and resources, they would make much better use of them than I currently manage to do. I feel like I'm not utilizing all I have to the maximum potential. Do you ever feel this way?

Last time I checked, which was approximately three seconds ago, Christians all agree that if you believe in God, Believe in Jesus and try to follow Christ's example, then you're a Christian. Catholics do all this and get accused of paganism and idolatry--isn't that nice? Let's all us Christians just keep attacking each other and show the world what loving and accepting people we are--Do you honestly expect them to listen to our words and completely ignore our deeds?

Look no matter what a salesperson offers and how beautiful it looks, if you dont trust him you wont buy. Therefore, this is an issue about trust. The bible clearly states that Eve knew God forbad eating of the fruit and said that it would be bad for her if she did. Serpent clearly promised the opposite that it would be good. Eve wanted good, but like i said, no matter what the salesperson offers it dont mean squat without trust. So the issue is trust. Why does Eve trust the Serpent?

I went to a Church meeting the other day (at the request of Elders, free food, this pretty lady I like, I knew she would be there, even though, I did not know she was Christian), Igot insulted. I was told natural men (another Native American said this) who honor the earth, are going to hell. So, I sang the congregation a earth spirituality song about photo synthesis and told them my people Paiutes have a covenant with God to protect Mother Earth, for future generations to survive we need to protect the ozone layer and make sure animals and the water is good and so forth. I told them we all come from the same first human beings. As I sang the Elders were proud, I could see how many thought I was bad or even evil. Anyway, by the end, they were respectful. The Methodist preacher said, good thing for the New testament, we each laughed. The Baptist folks, sort of shunned me after that. Next time, I am writing them a song, as they were jamming, but when I do, I am going to GET DOWN.....

The Christian God, which is a trinity and only created humanity as the intelligent life in the universe

Or

The Islamic God, which is only one God and not a trinity who not only created humanity but possibly created other alien civilizations as well.

Beautiful words are not truthful.

Those who argue are not good.

The learned do not know.

The more he gives to others, the greater his abundance.

The Tao of the sage is work without effort.

OK, so religions started back in the ancient times as a way to explain things in nature that we were not able to explain, such as why boats sank and why we have war and pestilence. Christianity started in the Roman times. The Roman religion said that no matter what you did, you would go to a terrible everlasting eternity when you died. It was a way of keeping the masses at bay. But then Christianity came along, and they said that all you have to do is say that you accept God, and you won't have to go to the Roman hell. You can go to a paradise when you die, and all you have to do is say that you agree to accept God. Christianity is just like every other religion that has been started to better explain the whims of nature that we cannot explain ourselves. Is it not either to tell a grieving mother that it was god's plan for her baby son to die, than to tell her that he was hit by a drunk driver? Am I the only one that sees Christianity as nothing more than just a made up story?

students killed last week a lot of relief. But: talking about the Bible might offend someone. I guess they get so upset and offended they can't study, have to go home and have a good cry. Know what I say? Then get offended. Buy a box of Klenex. Live with it.
