No evidence suggests that evolution is losing adherents. Pick up any issue of a peer-reviewed biological journal, and you will find articles that support and extend evolutionary studies or that embrace evolution as a fundamental concept.

Conversely, serious scientific publications disputing evolution are all but nonexistent. In the mid-1990s George W. Gilchrist of the University of Washington surveyed thousands of journals in the primary literature, seeking articles on intelligent design or creation science. Among those hundreds of thousands of scientific reports, he found none. In the past two years, surveys done independently by Barbara Forrest of Southeastern Louisiana University and Lawrence M. Krauss of Case Western Reserve University have been similarly fruitless.

Creationists retort that a closed-minded scientific community rejects their evidence. Yet according to the editors of Nature, Science and other leading journals, few antievolution manuscripts are even submitted.

that to be true, wouldn't it have taken longer than 150 days for the waters to recede? That is less than six months, and where did the excess water come from and where did it go to on a planet that is in natually "balanced?" Fill a bottle half full of water and put a lid on it to represent earth. Now try to "fill" it the rest of the way. Can you do it??

When I ask about what to do about being depressed, some people suggest that I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I respect these answers because I know that they are really trying to help the only way they know how. But I have to wonder, if I were already a Christian, and I said, "I'm so depressed" would your answer be different? Or do you think that if I were a Christian, I honestly would never experience depression?

Please be honest, I respect your views, even if I do not agree. Thanks.

Many people learned in elementary school that a theory falls in the middle of a hierarchy of certainty--above a mere hypothesis but below a law. Scientists do not use the terms that way, however. According to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), a scientific theory is "a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that can incorporate facts, laws, inferences, and tested hypotheses." No amount of validation changes a theory into a law, which is a descriptive generalization about nature. So when scientists talk about the theory of evolution--or the atomic theory or the theory of relativity, for that matter--they are not expressing reservations about its truth.

In addition to the theory of evolution, meaning the idea of descent with modification, one may also speak of the fact of evolution. The NAS defines a fact as "an observation that has been repeatedly confirmed and for all practical purposes is accepted as 'true.'" The fossil record clear and compelling.

That number always jumps out at me. I'll see it on a clock, on a price tag at a store, on my paycheck, anywhere else.

Once, I woke up at night, looked at the clock, and it was 12:12 am... Another time I was talking to 2 of my coworkers, one asked the other what time it was, the other replied 12:12 pm.

I don't see the numbers as much as I did, but I still notice them. This has been going on for like a year and a half. I think it's a sign of some sort, what does this mean? I've made a lot of spritual advancements since I've been seeing the numbers. If there's anyone with any experience with numerology, or whatever, your answer would be a great help.

(I'm not a member of any organized religion, but I do have my own beliefs... I'm sure this doesn't have have anything to do with the bible, quran, etc. We all love God.)

I was saved by Christ on 11-17-2003. Since then I have gone thru times where I seem to be living live to worship God and then other times, especially lately, I have been living solely for myself. I realize this is not the best place to discuss this . I am just hoping for some opinions on this matter because lately I have been worrying about myself and God.

abel thing as saying that africans (or arabs) depending on what sect you talk to are cursed because they are descended from cain,I think this is REALY where some of the anomosity against muslims in yahoo answers comes from, anyways, how many christian sects still teach this? I know some of the actively polygymous mormon sects in arizona and utah do, and the southern babtist convention used to,but I think they changed that. and how does a Christian African-american or African christian in general, reconcile these believes, obviously not their own, this is another reason I have a great respect for Islam which teaches EVERYONE is equal, no original sin, no superstitious curses.

I'm so depressed tonight, I can barely stand it. I can't get it out of my head how I'm going to graduate soon with my bachelor's in Religious Studies and I won't have a life after that. What am I going to do? I can't accomplish things like every one else seems to be able to because I suffer from this dang Recurrent Major Depressive Disorder. I can't seem to do things like normal people. I won't be able to continue to grad school because I'm too depressed to be able to do it. I can't imagine what kind of job I can get at this stage that I can actually do without getting super depressed. What should I do? I'm in so much debt from college. I feel like giving up.

Yeah, I'll be deleting this question, because if I don't, I'm sure someone else will. sigh.

FACT: IT CAME INTO EXISTENCE CENTURIES AFTER THE BIBLE AND TORA. People who believe in it seem to think a counterfeit comes before the original. Islamic believers cannot validate the claim that the Bible is the counterfeit because the Bible's existence preceded the Qur'aan.

FACT: THE QUR'AAN TESTIFIES ABOUT ONE TRUE GOD (ALLAH) AND HIS PROPHETS. These truths were in the Bible and Torah long before the Qur'aan. This fact reveals that the Qur'aan is not the first writtings about God and his prophets and suggests that the Qur'aan is not authentic but a forgery.

FACT: IT WAS WRITTEN BY THE ASSOCIATES OF MUHAMMAD (pbuh). Muhammad could not read nor write. Therefore, Muhammad could not verify the validity of the holy book.

FACT: THE QUR'AAN's EXISTENCE WAS AFTER THE TECHNOLOGY OF WRITTING WAS INVENTED. Believer's of the Qur'aan and Islam think the errors in the Bible prove it is not the Word of Allah. Nothing is further from the truth. The technology of writing didn't exist in the

I was just called a right-wing fundi?

Here’s my beliefs:
My faith is in Jesus, not a religion.
I believe that one should be at least somewhat knowledgeable of other’s beliefs.
We do the Halloween thing.
I am Pro-Choice. Not Pro-Abortion.
I don’t believe in the Trinity, as 3 separate deities.

I would like to know what ‘category’ I fall into.

Many people think that God tortures because it helps us learn a lesson and we can grow from it. But, if you read Revelation, "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever," (20:10) then you will see that there is no lessen to be learned here. Why does God torture? Why not just wipe these creations out?

PS: I don't care whether or not you are religious. If you are religious that fine. If you are not religious then look at this question based purely on the Bible as literature.
