In his 1990 book The New Millennium, Pat Robertson suggested Apr 29, 2007 as the day of Earth's destruction. Either God doesn't really talk to this guy, or God has one heck of a sense of humor.

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

The consensus among Christians 40 years ago would have been "YES!" but now it seems there is disagreement.

How can the One True Religion disagree on something as important as the afterlife?

I doubt it would be a self-righteous tirade against Muslims and atheists. (That's what I wade through most of the time in R&S, along with the counter-tirades.)

What is the Biblical position on those born with an intersex condition, who genetically are neither male or female. (This includes, but is not limited to hermaphrodites.) I think it would be a bit rude, to say the least, for the church to condemn them because of a proven biological condition.
This was originally posted as an answer to another question, but I have been asked to post it again.

Don't Christians have a direct line to God. Do they have to go thru "operator" first??
Or do Jews and Muslims have the privilege having a direct line to God ?

It must have been widespread in Palestine, plus he didn't have much use for rabbis and temples, that's for sure. Then the three magi - even before His birth - were the first to recognize His divinity, and those are Zorastrian clergy. Add it up,man. But seriously - anybody know anything about the status and practice of Zoroastrianism if Olde Palestine circa 1 a.d.?

In the Book of Daniels (Daniel 12:4) we have the angel Gabriel telling Daniels. That in the "time of the end" or as some interpert it as the last days... That men would move about to and fro, and that knowledge would increase.

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

What is your understanding to this scripture?

so consequentaly, satan/god, are equal, due to action/inaction.

why is this worthy of worship

if it is admitted that god is omnipitent, and capable of deeds that christians have suggested, then NO ONE in this world would suffer.
free will is no valid excuse.

In early days (way early days), people saw spirits and gods in everything (earth spirit, water spirit, etc). Then, people had lots of gods that were kinda like us but lived in the clouds (zeus, odin, whatever). Now, people think there's just one god (I think it's because it's easier to remember just one name, but that's another question).

Is this a good thing, because soon we'll finally get rid of that one god and be done with all this nonsense?

Scriptural typology is:
A biblical person, thing, action, or event that foreshadows new truths, new actions, or new events. In the Old Testament, Melchizedech and Jonah are types of Jesus Christ. A likeness must exist between the type and the archetype, but the latter is always greater. Both are independent of each other. God’s call for the return of the Israelites from Pharaoh’s bondage typifies the return of Jesus Christ from his flight into Egypt. In the New Testament the destruction of Jerusalem, foretold by Christ, was the antitype of the end of the world.1

Adam & Eve’s sin is repaired by the righteousness of the new Adam and Eve in Jesus and Mary. Adam and Eve caused the downfall of man, Jesus and Mary the redemption of man.
Genesis 3:15
Romans 5:12-21

Isaac carrying the wood is like Jesus carrying the Cross.
Genesis 22:6

Abraham sacrificing his son is like the Heavenly Father offering up his Son Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah.

(Disclaimer/Christian Asking)
I really like some of the questions in here and find some very interesting, there is lot's of very intelligent people from all beliefs & disbeliefs.

My question is this: I have noticed from many posters a postion that say's if you believe in God/Jesus that you are lacking basic understanding of science and logic, world history that you must be on the low end of the IQ scale etc.
That is is completly obvious there is NO God. At least that's seems to be the general consensus to me. With that said is it also your opinion that the Christian leadership, pastors, teachers, biblical scholars many with PHD's (like my pastor) and many that are extremely well educated also agree with you and are simply hiding the real truth from the average, less educated church goer. In other words do you believe that it's so absurd for any reasonably intelligent person to beleive in God that the leadership is knowlingly misleading it own people, or do you believe they believe

The most popular source of evidence used by evolutionist stems from the fossil record. Evolutionist Jay Savage states, "We do not need a listing of evidences to demonstrate the fact of evolution..." (V). Encyclopaedia Britannica (14:376) under a section called "The speculative nature of phylogeny [via fossil record]" states, "...judgements of relationships among organisms are almost always based upon incomplete evidence..." This means assumptions are used to fill in the missing pieces of evidence. Britannica also states, "The overwhelming majority of species that have ever lived have long since been extinct and with them the connecting links necessary for the direct demonstration of the descent of modern organisms from common ancestors." This statement shows that the evidence does not exist for Savage to "demonstrate the fact of evolution." He sidesteps the scientific process and logic thereby showing his bias thereby discrediting himself, his profession and the theory.
