They had daughters as well. Much of the old testament tells what sons so-and-so had, but doesn't mention any daughters (we have to assume a bit here). So the sons married their sisters (it probably didn't seem so bad to them at the time - there was no other previously set standard banning incest because they were the first humans - and they had to populate the world somehow).

Hi buttercup
this is the third time I've answered this question just today :)
Adam and Eve lived over 900 years and had many sons and daughters.... back then, genes and DNA were perfect, and so intermarrying between relatives was acceptable. Cain, Seth and the other boys (Abel was dead) married their sisters, or nieces. There were lots to choose from I'm sure.
blessings :)

Obviously, they were also people from Adam. The Bible highlights the lives of Cain, Abel, and Seth; however, if you cross reference Gen. 5:4, it says, "Then the days of Adam after he became the father of Seth were eight hundred years, and he had other sons and daughters." I think your answer lies in this verse.

since cain and abel were both farmers, they were likely both full-grown adults, possibly with families of their own. adam and eve had more children than just cain and abel at the time abel was killed - they definitely had many more children later ..the fact that cain was scared for his own life after he killed abel tells me that there were likely many other children and perhaps even grandchildren or great-grandchildren of adam and eve at that time.
so, cain's wife was a daughter or granddaughter of adam and eve. and since adam and eve were the first human beings, their children would have no other choice than to intermarry. God did not forbid inter-family marriage until much later when there was enough people that intermarriage was not necessary

There is an answer to this, but it's going to ire some christians.
Adam is the first humankind. The first of man thus:
n.b. the timeline
Genesis 1
27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
His wife comes from his rib, she is not a human by the common definition of self, however there is a better definition of selfhood, and in that definition eve is human, an extension from man of himself.
Genesis 2
18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."
19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.
But for Adam [g] no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs [h] and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib [i] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 The man said,
"This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called 'woman, [j] '
for she was taken out of man."
......
So you see, male and female were created BEFORE woman. Woman is not a female human, woman is mans self actualised outward from himself while he sleeps.
Adam and Eve created sons together. Keeping it in context, Man actualised his dreams and those dreams caused other smaller seedling dreams to be.. those dreams then linked to mankind and begat more dreams... and so on and so forth.
It's all very simple in an example.
Lets say Adams dream was to be a jet pilot, then eve was from him, the jet pilot self. As a Jet pilot he discovered things about the outer layers of the earth and his jet pilot had dreams of being an astronaut. This was Adam procreating with his eve to beget the dream astronaut. Astronaut was his child, and this child became the dream of other men, and those of men, Adams astronaut children, took wifes from themselves to beget the child 'rocket science'.
So, because of eve, man is not alone, he is with his dreams and the children of those dreams.
And the bible does NOT say otherwise that Eve was a female human, because female humans were created BEFORE her.

Laws prohibiting incest were not written yet.
Further into Genesis you will read:
Genesis 5:4
And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

as gross as it sounds, their sons married their sisters.
adam and eve lived a very long time and had many many many kids. since the only other girls in the world were their sisters, they had to sleep with them to continue the line of life. so if ya think about it, everyone is related somehow!
