(Disclaimer/Christian Asking)
I really like some of the questions in here and find some very interesting, there is lot's of very intelligent people from all beliefs & disbeliefs.

My question is this: I have noticed from many posters a postion that say's if you believe in God/Jesus that you are lacking basic understanding of science and logic, world history that you must be on the low end of the IQ scale etc.
That is is completly obvious there is NO God. At least that's seems to be the general consensus to me. With that said is it also your opinion that the Christian leadership, pastors, teachers, biblical scholars many with PHD's (like my pastor) and many that are extremely well educated also agree with you and are simply hiding the real truth from the average, less educated church goer. In other words do you believe that it's so absurd for any reasonably intelligent person to beleive in God that the leadership is knowlingly misleading it own people, or do you believe they believe

I doubt very many preach Christianity without believing it because other than televangelism, it isn't a very lucrative profession. The people who bash Christianity assume we have never questioned our faith and that if we did we would quickly throw it aside. This is the opposite of what happened to me. The more reading I did the closer I came to realizing the Truth. Christian APologetics is a very reasonable and welll thought out endeavor that bases itself almost entirely on logic, history and science.

I do not have a problem with the people who practice any particular religion unless they disrespect me by proselytizing after I actually ask them to stop (outside of this forum that is).

There are religions I find inconsistencies in the beliefs, which in turn I will show my lack of belief in it. I may say something which some may not like about the tenants of a religion, but anyone is free to practice any they so choose.

I personally don't think so. You'll find a lot of very intelligent christians and muslims in real life and on here too. Dog Sneeze and TTC for example. There are many other intelligent believers of other faiths, such as Pangel and Loka.

I think people can only speak from their own experience. From my personal experience, belief in god was incompatible with logic and science as I grew and studied. In addition, it is supported in studies that the more intelligent you are, the less likely you are to believe in god. (Here is a short, but decent article about that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_and_intelligence)

Obviously there are exceptions to both ends of the scale! There are stupid atheists and intelligent god-believers.

Well, I have problems with Christians, but not for any of the reasons you stated. I don't think Christians are any less intelligent than anyone else. I think the population in general is lacking in understanding of science and logic.

There is a well documented negative correlation between IQ and religious belief.

Here is what happens, when we don't accept what they teach we are ignorant, but when they don't accept what we teach.... they're enlightened?
