Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

I feel for the others that have answered. There IS Only ONE way - One Truth - JESUS!

'And then I will profess unto the, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.' Matthew 7: 23

Be at Peace - God Bless!

Conceptually it is a nice theory. The problem with God and religion is that man has perverted/abused/manipulated it. The problem isn't God but man. We suck! The message that Jesus preached was one of love. If we follow what Jesus preached we wouldn't even have thoughts of a song such as "Imagine" because we would already be living in peace.

He makes a great point in that song...

If there weren't things to die for...(like religion, or nationality)...we might start living for humanity as a whole...

It seems that if one were to be a true follower of Jesus (which Christians aren't) one would enjoy that song...John Lennon is talking about the same things Jesus is.

Peace...
Loving your neighbor more than your religion (the parable of the samaritan)

"Imagine no possesions"...(give him also thy cloak)...

etc...

No, Christians don't have nono's.

Christianity isn't a bunch of rules...that's called legalism. We have the personal choice, just like anyone else, to do whatever we want. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the Beatles or John Lennon...but that is because I don't really like their style of music that much.

the song DOES say imagine...just because you imagine something, doesn't mean it's truth.

There are a lot of us that are more open minded than Yahoo Answers. Personally, I heard the song and had the album the same year it came out. He said Imagine, not Live it.

Actually, I like John Lennon and I think that "Imagine" is a good song. I do not think that I am going to hell just for listening to the music that I like. I don't listen to gospel music 24/7. Ha, Ha!

You should listen to what you like regardless of your religion. That song is pretty heavy against religious notions of heaven and hell - so its not just Christianity its talking against but any religion that uses heaven or hell.
Personally I find it a powerful song and one that was well before its time, if you don't like the song don't listen to it, but I think its got a powerful message

Are you nuts?!? That's one of my favorite songs. Personally, I think that's a great idea/vision. I think it depends upon the branch of Christianity. My church has a service that uses the music of U2. So, I don't John Lennon is going to raise any eyebrows.

Think for yourself. Don't let others dictate what you can and cannot listen to... What is wrong with a song that advocates people living life in peace?
