My brother told me that he read this book and it talks about how if you are not pure christian you will go to hell and that when you die you do not go staright to Heaven, your body is put to sleep until God comes back to get us. he tells me this stuff all the time and that they only place that teaches this stuff only meets one sunday a month, to me that sound like a cult.

now when i say if you are not a pure christian i mean that you are white ( Irish, German,English). he says that black people, indians, jews, italians, ect. are going to hell. he also told me that my husband would goto hell because he is american indian but i will go to heaven because im irish/english, and my daughter will goto hell because she has indian in her. This is why i said i think it sounds like a cult.

If something evolves, the original from which it evolves from doesnt die out, right?

well how did we lose all those other "steps" in our process to the way we are now.. except monkeys?

I don't.

I think the entire Universe is pre-programmed. The reason I think this is because every physical process is calculable. Therefore, if someone knew the precise location of every single particle at the beginning of the Universe, one could calculate the future.

Everything that has ever happened could have been predicted, even our actions.

Our actions are controlled by molecules in our bodies and brains, and many of those are based on other events that happened around us.

But is you knew the location of every particle since the beginning of time, you could predict everything, including our actions.

There is no free will. It's all pre-programmed.

We fool ourselves by thinking we have a "free will" to make a decision, but whatever decision you make was already pre-determined based on all the particles in the Universe.

"Your decision" to either answer or ignore this question is not really your decision. Whichever the case, the particles of the Universe made you do it...

I was at work today and I was sooo tired. I had a customer from El Salvador and we were talking. I told her that I was really tired. So she started to rub her hands to there and said something like she was holding an imaginary ball then put her hands over my face. Wow I could feel her energy. I really couldn't communicate with her to well because I don't speak spanish very well but, I am now wondering about this technique. Any input?

Jesus Christ only lived 33 years, never went more than 30 miles from his home, never wrote a book, never was on tv, never made a cd or any multimedia source and YET

-- Jesus Christ has influenced the world more than any person;

-- Jesus Christ's existence separates history (ac or bc);

-- Jesus Christ has more books written about him than any person in history;

-- Jesus Christ is the Ruler of the largest religion in the world;

-- Jesus Christ had 11 apostles and numerous martyrs die excruciating deaths believing in the Messiah, the Son of God;

-- Jesus Christ as the promised messiah fulfilled over 300 prophesies in the Old Testament. Just fulfilling 50 makes the odds of doing so 10X135 power, an astronomical number. No human being or religious leader's existence was fortold with such clarity, never fulfilled so many prophesies about them, not even Moses, Muhammad (pbuh), Buddha, Confuscious or anyone!

I grew up in a strict JW household that attended just about every meeting. During these meetings that would last up to 3 hours long the children were expected to remain still and quiet. Going to the bathroom for most children was forbidden though some parents did not inforce it. I was one of the unlucky children whos parents did. I have early memories of having to urinate very badly, but was not allowed to go. I just had to sit there and endure it. Holding myself or figiting was not allowed. More than once I was taken to the bathroom to be spanked not staying still or whining. Even though we were in the bathroom I was not allowed to go. Instead I was brought back to our seat after I stopped crying. Not only did I have to endure a full bladder, but I also had to endure the pain from the spanking. I wasn't always able to fully stop crying from the pain so I was brought back again for another one which caused me to cry even more. Has anyone else had this happen to them or seen this?

If you lie outright not even a fool will follow you, but if you combine some spiritual truths with the lies then even a wise man can be deceived.

why when i try to post a quetion asking if i could pray for other believers, and if they could pray for me, it gets deleted!!! i mean, come on. if it offends you by me asking for prayer from my brothers and sisters in christ, then why are you answering quetions in that category? i mean, seriously, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if you are in a place talking about religion, that they will mention prayer, or God, for that matter!!!!!!!!!!!

The Marys and the Disciples were to meet Jesus on the Mount--which most say is Mount Carmel in Galilee. As best I can measure from Historical maps this was 180 miles as the crow flys and I was conservative by only adding 20 miles for the twist and turns of the trails of the time. No supplies, tenting, food, steeds, pack animals or money is mentioned and from the wording they left immediately to meet Jesus.

I get conditional, but don't get unconditional - love that is, from an evolutionist perspective.

How does unconditional love work, in a world with nothing influencing our behavior except nature?

why can't people just be satisfied with their own religous views and not be so worried about whether or not other people believe in God? its a personal choice that everyone makes on an individual basis. is it fair for other people to judge you just because you may not agree with their beliefs?
