If you lie outright not even a fool will follow you, but if you combine some spiritual truths with the lies then even a wise man can be deceived.

I am not quoting anything. I made this one up myself. I think it makes sense. But I see that I did not lead you in the correct path.. none of the answers was what I expected to see.

Noticed how quickly some people misunderstood your comment? How their minds were tricked into believing that you were quoting from scripture?
It's not your fault! You clearly state it is a "MOTTO"
Not a scripture!
Because it's Not In The Bible!
Does this mean that Satan fooled them?
Damn - that was easy for him!

I think this is true. Satan knows the bible and sprinkles the Truth in when he is deceiving - it's very effective. It's kind of like when atheists say, I'm a good moral person.... I try to help people and live a good life and be kind to others. This may be true, but unfortunately, it's not good works that make us able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. None of us are really any good. That's why we need receive the Holy Ghost -- so that there will be some redeeming quality to make us worthy to enter heaven. All that is evil will pass away (our humanly bodies) but what is good (the Holy Ghost within our souls) will live eternally. Nothing sinful or even the tiniest bit evil can live with God. Because He is pure goodness.
But I digress. Satan is a good devil, he does his job. and he is smart. Yes, I do believe he uses scripture which he contaminates... The bible says that the devil will pull at your weakest link, whatever that may be. But, he will lose in the end. (he knows that too).

Is that Machiavelli? It sounds like a quote from "The Prince". Good book. And no, I don't think it is the motto of Satan.

This sounds like the way cults are formed. I would give examples, but I don't want to lump all people of a group together because some are on thier way out, even if they don't know it yet and some are on thier way in..... even if they don't know it yet.

Actually, I thought the primary rule of Satanism was to abolish ignorance (or abstain from it,) so the person wouldn't be worth the time in any case if you deceived them.

Religion is full of lies!
If you tell something completely outrageous people will believe it, while the plain and simple truth will be thought a lie.
Rat poison is 99% good rat food. It is the .1% that kills. People are the same way. They swallow the bad without realizing it is that which will kill.
How much leaven does it take?

I think you just described Catholicism and all of it's daughter churches and any church that was created to compete (Islam and many more) with it. Yes, that is his motto and method of operation.
