only if the bible said it was an abomination.

Edit: Seriously, without that external so-called moral authority my left handedness is just whatever my genes seem to dictate (however that works! I don't need to 'know' in any scientific sense how it is that I pick up scissors and pencils with my left hand, I just do - even a g/d guitar or golf club or baseball bat I can somehow figure out how to do bass ackward! It's just bloody bizarre). Without the bible, I'm just a freak. With it, I'm actually fair game for ridicule from every minimum wage counter monkey that notices me signing my receipt with my left hand and every otherwise well meaning kindergarten teach who's just too stubborn to buy a couple pairs of crap-*** scissors that suck just as badly in my left hand as they do in everybody else's right hand.

Why yes, yes I am left handed and yes, it is exactly the one thing that makes me understand what gays go through. It's not *just* the scissors it's the fact that nobody thinks they should make any affordance for it at all. "Why do you need scissors that work? Nobody else has problems. If you cut the paper right you'd just mess up the drawing part. You should just be glad we don't take you out back and stone you like we used to!"

I'm real sorry about this rant but it was in there and it had to come out - guess I'm just another militant lefty (-:

I'm a mother of four. One lefty in the bunch. He started out that way so I guess he chose. About 2 years ago I had surgery on my right elbow (trapped nerve) and had to do things left handed for a while. It was not easy, comfortable or pretty. So, even trying to change from right to left was really hard to do. I can't imagine a little baby choosing which hand to hold the bottle with or which thumb to suck. It happens naturally.

People are born left handed. And the left handed are the only ones in their 'right' minds. They are more creative, intuitive and mystical than all of those left brain, right handed folks. Hey... look the kitty is back. Is she left pawed?

No, I know some people are left handed. DO YOU KNOW THAT THEY SAY THAT LEFT HANDED HAS A TWIN DURING DEVELOPMENT IN THE WOMB. Some how the other twin never get full develop. They said that left handed is another form of twins.

If there were a stigma attached to being left handed (which there was and still is to a point), then it would matter very much whether it was a conscious choice or uncontrollable.

At least it would matter in a greater social context.

As long as it wouldn't negatively affect people and society, no.

Wait, can I change my answer?

Matthew 6:3
"do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing"

Is this the Bible's version of "Don't Ask. Don't Tell?"

It certainly used to. Schools would punish left-handed "behavior", and that is actually part of the origin of the word "sinister".
