abel thing as saying that africans (or arabs) depending on what sect you talk to are cursed because they are descended from cain,I think this is REALY where some of the anomosity against muslims in yahoo answers comes from, anyways, how many christian sects still teach this? I know some of the actively polygymous mormon sects in arizona and utah do, and the southern babtist convention used to,but I think they changed that. and how does a Christian African-american or African christian in general, reconcile these believes, obviously not their own, this is another reason I have a great respect for Islam which teaches EVERYONE is equal, no original sin, no superstitious curses.

There is nothing in the bible that suggests the mark God put on Cain so that no one would kill him has anything to do with the color of skin.

I was raised a Christian and a Southern Baptist my uncle a Southern Baptist minister and have never heard this nonsense. The difference between Cain and Abel is that of flesh and spirit. The first will serve the last. Cain gave from the cursed ground and Abel a perfect lamb which is the example of Christ. We are created first flesh and then spirit and are taught that the spirit should rule the flesh. If you seek truth you will find it. The problem with Islam is it teaches contray to what God teaches and is in agreement with Satan that the flesh is not cursed and it misses the spiritual teachings that God does offer us. Jesus taught the atonement and so did all the prophets of God. Muhammad was not in agreement with God nor the prophets of God and therefore can not be a true prophet of God.

As far as I have read, the only distinction made between Cain and Abel was that Cain grew crops (farmer) and Abel was a animal husbandman (shepard).
There was no elevation of one over the other by God. The problem was jealousy of Cain against Abel because God was pleased by Abel's sacrifice and not Cain's. That was so far back in human genesis that there would be no way of knowing who brought forth who and any discussion into this would be foolish anyway.

Islam is a good religion, but that is where it ends. It is religion. I am sorry you had those experiences with people who were religious and have terrible revelation of the scripture. A true Christian is not a religious person, but a person who walks with God in a personal relationship. This relationship with God shows us that there are two great commandments and the 10 commandments are found in these two. 1. Love God with all you heart, mind, soul and all your being. and 2. Love your neighbor as you also love yourself.
These commandments prove that we shouldn't teach that anyone is cursed because of Cain. All humanity is cursed because of the sin in our own lives reguardless of race. Jesus is the way out.

A mark was put upon Cain but not anyone else.
Mormons are a cult, they used to own slaves but they didn't discriminate, they are very racist. I don't believe any of that crap. Skin has what is call pigmentation, blacks have a lot of pigmentation, white's have none and everyone in between has different levels of it.
There is however original sin and a curse whether you accept it or not but those apply to every human even you.

To be frank about it, the entire premise is illogical and without any Biblical evidence. Our ancestry has no play whatsoever in our salvation and is a mute point. I would seriously question the doctrines and teachings of a church that would teach anything at all resembling this type of reasoning. Having faith in an all-loving God and "...loving our neighbors as we love ourselves", as Jesus taught. Those are the factors determining our salvation, my friend.

married built a city, and gave birth to Enoch who walked with God.I would say God forgave Cain, He did not curse Him.

Islam teaches that everone is equal, except of course that some are more equal than others. This means, of course, that women are not part of everyone.

Also, anyone who thinks this would do well to remember that it was Muslims who captured and sold as slaves blacks who would not convert to Islam. Peace, as far as Islam is concerned, means the peace that comes from surrendering to Islam, which is in fact what Islam means in Arabic.

In the old testiment is does state that a mark was put upon Cain and his skin was darkened but it says the curse was for 11 generations or something like that and that's LONG since passed.
I am LDS (Mormon) and our church teaches that everyone is a child of God and God knows all of us personally, by name, and loves us all the same. We treat everyone equally.

Isn't that a bunch of hooey?
I always heard that Nod being east of Eden meant Cain was Chinese, therefore the mark was slanted eyes!
Rubbish!
Just another way for ignorant trolls to pretend to be exclusive.
