Ok, hear me out, I am Atheist. I've read articles refering to us as the "New Gay." Think about it seriously for a moment. As an Atheist, how "in the closet" are you? I know there are people I dont discuss it with, and it took me a while to tell my parents. So, what do you think? Are Atheist's the "New Gays?"

Dont kid yourself, atheists have been persucted throughout the history of time. Any place religon has ruled, atheists have been hated.

The only parellel I draw is this. Is it socially acceptable to be Atheist? Or, do you feel "closeted" in your beliefs and find that discussing them with people whom are not close to you is out of the question?

How can one NOT believe? Maybe I am gay and dont know it?

Really? I dont know why i am wasting my time, but your just a dumb, sheltered sheep... Stay out of intellegent conversations, and go back to your bible nonsense. Oh, and try not to murder anyone cause they dont live like you. (I.E. believing in nonsense, supporting bush, and losing their virginity to their cousin...)

i am NOT comparing collective cultures, just individual struggles with those who surround them and oppose them in their life.

The 'closet' parallel is pretty strong; other than that, both homosexuals and atheists are a pretty diverse bunch.

I'm an atheist; I'm not 'out' to people at work or members of my dad's side of the family, and my mother thinks I'm just not trying hard enough.

"Have you ever tried... not being a mutant?"

I would only agree with atheism as the new gay as a hyperbolic expression- with the basic premise being that these are both controversial modes of living.

Yes I get your question and I agree with you. I feel I have to be diplomatic when I talk about my belief so yes I am in the closet

No its not.

Religion is the old gay, the new gay, the only gay.

Just listen to Christians sing and Christian rock...it's sooo gay.

Atheism is the sensible, straight option. TING.

They are not new, they exist since the creation of this cosmos. The main reason for their existence on this material world is their non belief in God.
