There's a difference between homosexual orientation and homosexual acts. A person can have homosexual orientation but still be celibate. And not everyone who chooses to be celibate necessarily has a specific sexual orientation, if one at all. As for those who have homosexual orientation, I believe God intends for those people to remain celibate and to focus on a spiritual relationship with Him rather than an earthly relationship with any human being.
What supposed "contradiction" are you referring to with regard to the Bible?

Since I am not a Roman Catholic, I can agree with you. The unmarried priesthood came out of Paganism which was practiced before Christianity.
But if you are going to talk about homosexuals being against nature, then know that we are all against God's nature. Any homosexual can come to God, but only if they trust God through Jesus Christ. I am Bisexual. And I have been a Christian for over 20 years.

Read Matthew 19:11-12. The vocation of priesthood is where a person chooses a life for the kingdom of God. That is totally different than homosexuality which goes against nature. Read Christopher Wests book -The Good News About Sex and Marriage. he covers all of this in light of John Paul II Theology of The Body. God Bless!

How is not having sex going against nature? They just don't do it, it's not like they are doing it wrong like the homosexuals. There is a difference. Men and women are made to compliment each other, an other combo of the two and it becomes tainted and perverse in the eyes of God. To not have sex is like not smoking, it's a decision you make on your own, there is nothing wrong with not doing it. If you never met a woman (or man in a woman's case), you wouldn't be having sex at all. There is nothing unnatural about not doing it, it's misusing what you were given that is the sin. Not using it isn't the same as misusing it intentionally.

You know, nowhere in the bible does it say that priests cannot be married. Infact, some of the Apostles were.
However, to answer the second part of your question about going against nature: Paul also says that it is better to be single so as to serve God with all of your heart and all of your life instead of being distracted by sex, romance, marriage, and babies (which can take up the majority of your energy!!)
He is saying devote all your energy to God - even homosexuals can do this - it is not any harder for a homosexual to control his urges than it is for a heterosexual, you know - and God calls both homosexuals and heterosexuals to reign in their sexual impulses and control them so we are not ruled by our private parts!

I have no drums to bang here - its all good with me - but I read it that celibacy is the natural state and marriage is the state into which sexual intercourse is brought in to further the human race. Procreate.
Priests and nuns do not marry - therefore ...... etc.,
Homosexuality is not for the reasons of procreating the human race - therefore ..........etc.
But if I may say - each to his/her own.
We will all be judged by one that I choose not to judge - my Greater Power has powers of forgiveness way beyond mine!
The Bible is full of contradictions - but in that lies the beauty - does it not make us THINK? Does it not encourage discussion? Therefore is it not a good and challenging work - it does not dictate, it does not require non-thought, and most importantly, does it not allow individuals to work it according to their own conscience?
Good question though!

Before Vatican 2 the Catholic Church tried to screen out those with homosexual orientation. After Vatican 2 because of priest shortage they began go ordain priest with homosexual orientation as long as they took the vow of celibacy. The Catholic Church differentiates between homosexual orieintation and homosexual
behavior.

a priest takes a vow of celibacy, now if he practices homosexual behaviour it is no different for him than any homosexual, the same with nuns if they become lesbians. Its a sin for all of mankind to lie with someone of the same gender.

Jesus said, some eunochs are born eunochs while others are mane eunochs of men. To those who it is give let them take, but not to those that it is not.
My point is this.....Jesus never says homosexuality is a sin. I know everything that Jesus says and does, and in your heart you know the truth because it is as simple as 1+1. The problem is us. We conjecture, assume, change the truth to benefit our life. But, let he who is gay deal with his morality inside and not have to deal with the fools around them judging them as if they know best...
