goodnight, see you all soon :)

Truthful words are not beautiful.
Beautiful words are not truthful.
Good men do not argue.
Those who argue are not good.
Those who know are not learned.
The learned do not know.

The sage never tries to store things up.
The more he does for others, the more he has.
The more he gives to others, the greater his abundance.
The Tao of heaven is pointed but does no harm.
The Tao of the sage is work without effort.

Ah sweet, sweet nothings.

This piece of verse appears to have been taken directly from The Tao. If I had my copy on hand I could tell you which number it is. Anyway, ironical just asking the question "What do you think of this?" goes against The Tao philosophy. The last thing that Lao Tzu would want you to do is think. See, the verses are designed to neutralize your thinking, bringing a confused, tired or tormented mind into a state of peace and clarity. Reading a verse a day will help tone your mind, but you can't read part of The Tao without having read the whole thing first. You kind of have to put the verse in context of the whole book. I noticed in some of the other answers a little negative feedback to the Tao verse. This is not uncommon. The Tao can really twist your mind. It is an acquired taste, designed for people seeking the great emptiness within. Once The Tao is grasped by the reader for the first time, he is seized by a feeling of joy. It is natural to want to share that feeling, which may be why the verse was posted and why I've written this endorsement. ;)

I'd love to read it in the original Chinese. Sigh.

Let's see... words like these come to mind:

Meaningless platitudes
Exercise in useless drivel
Mediocre prose

Now... let's see how quickly you report me for abuse just because you don't like my opinion.

It reminds me of this:
"The same words bring life to some, and death to others."
