definitely yes.Buddhism made me the person i am today

i used to be a christian==my parents got divorced when i was 3,my dad turned into an alcoholic,he finally died because of that.my mum married another guy and he used to beat me and my brother for the slightest thing...through all these things i prayed and prayed to God to have some pity on me...no one answered,i just seemed to be praying to air..

nobody at church helped either..i mean all they said was "God works in mysterious ways...trust in God" blah blah ...when my whole life was falling apart....

then one day i met a Buddhist monk and somehow got talking...for the FIRST time in my life someone LISTENED to me without trying to brainwash me!

he taught me some basic dharma...i felt so much better...i went to temple a few times and then when i wanted to convert,u know what he said? he said no and told me not to make rash decisions...i was astounded because i knew from my christian upbringing that christians would never say something like this...

but he said that christianity has taught me many valuable things and never to forget those just because i had a rough time and he also said that the decisions i take while i'm emotional might lead me to regret....

so i didn't try to argue...for the next 1 1/2 years i studied Buddhism and learnt so much...it didn't take any ceremony or anything...just reading about Buddha's teachings calmed me...they're so non-violent...and Buddhism doesn't use FEAR of eternal torture to make people stick to it...it's upto the PEOPLE whether they want to stick to it or not...

i think Buddhism saved my life and it has definitely made me a better person because it gave me belief in MYSELF.

well i've always been jewish BY BLOOD..but for the past few years i was athiest/agnostic and i was very skeptical and pessimistic.

for some odd reason, this year i returned to my faith and became a realist-optimist. i read/say a prayer from the torah (about success) every day. i don't have to but it makes me feel better, more hopefull. i like my religion :P unlike people of other religions, i don't feel like i have to go to temple to be close to god. if god is really so powerfull to live in zero dimention (be anywhere, any time) and can hear everyone, why go to temple when you can talk/"think" to him yourself?

+do i think it made me a better person? i guess..if you think hope is good.

Yes it has. As a christian turned atheist, I have a better appreciation for life. I am out living it, instead of being in a church with my head bowed and my eyes shut.
I am not one of those atheists who, whenever they meet a christian, they immediately have to put them down and disprove their beliefs, in order to make themselves feel superior and intellectual. Only when someone pushes their religion on me, is when I talk about my beliefs.
It has made me a better person.....because I am not filled with guilt. I am not worried if everything that I am doing is a sin. I am not sitting here apologizing for things that I shouldn't even be apologizing for. And I feel like a better person too. I am happier.

Absolutely YES.

One fact about religion is that all you can say about it is that it is the best for YOU right now, and if it is, you should be growing spiritually and enjoying life. If your religion is working for you, you should be learning things that help you develop more love and compassion for other people in your family, and those you meet when you are out and about.

Yes, absolutely. It has given me a sense if inner peace. I have always had my own set of beliefs and never knew what religion they most reflected. Studying Islam, I finally found a sense of belonging and understanding.
