I mentioned Lucifer earlier and two Pagans had a fit because they weren't even aware that Lucifer was one of the old Gods long before the Christians inserted him into their bible as synonymous with "the devil". In taking offense, I believe we only enable the Christians to demonize various Pagan deities. It's that attitude, IMO, that turned Wicca into Christianity with a Goddess at the helm in the 90's.

Do you know how many pre-Christian gods ended up in Catholic made hierarchies of devils? So I'm tired of Pagan fear of Lucifer - a Pagan sun god! I'm taking Lucifer back - who's with me?

Ss. Peter and Paul the leaders of the original church, both called by Christ to the ministry. Each from different backgrounds. St. Peter and his brother St. Andrew were merely a pair of humble fishermen with out any Formal Education. St. Paul was a Pharasee and a Lawyer. As a member of the Sanhedron he would have been schooled in many things we would consider to be college or university level. Many Denominations require a Degree before you attend seminary.

First of all I like to say that with this question I don't intend to insult anybody. I really appreciate you all, whether you are Muslim, atheist, Christian, agnostic, agnostic atheist, agnostic theist, Pagan, Wiccan, Hindu, Buddhist, straight, gay, bi-sexual, a-sexual, non-sexual, male, female, transsexual, black, white, yellow, purple, brown or even if you're Italian.

I honestly try to understand you all, whether you love people, higher powers, animals or trees, or even all four of those items. With that I don't mean to refer to humans or gods or trees or animals as 'items', I just didn't know a better word. I'm Dutch, sometimes I just can't find better words in my vocabulary. I'm truly sorry for that. It really wasn't meant to offend.

Hmm.. Now I forgot what I wanted to ask.

Anyway, what is the point of an online forum, if a large group of the users assume that every question is meant to insult or offend, and with that needs a 700 words disclaimer?

ok, nobody has to do this. since i'm always hit with lines such as "god bless" or "jesus loves you" at the end of answers by christians, i've come up with a phrase that sums up my beliefs that i'm gonna start using at the end of my answers. how's this?
"only science can save you"
feel free to use it if you like.

Why deal with the disapointment and problems? I do belive in god and I am saved by god, but most religons are full of issues from judging people, gays, child molesters, killers, and so many others! You join a cult you could get killed, if you are a true satonest you could be killed, judged, or even not hired at a potental job. Why deal with that, doen't you have enough problems? So why add more?

Since when did you all corner the market on prayer? I am a humanist. I pray to the whole of humanity. It's quite insulting to realize that many of you believe an atheist cannot pray if they don't believe in a God (or your God).

I can understand being threatened if someone tells you that they are going to kill you for not believing what they believe. For example, the way that Islam says to "kill the infidel".

But no Christian is holding a gun up to an atheist's head telling them they are going to kill them. If someone did do this, they are not a true Christian because Jesus tells us to love even our enemy.

If there is no death threat and they won't lose their job for not believing in Hell, why do atheists feel so threatened by the concept of Hell (unless the so-called atheist really does believe in Hell)?

I have had paranormal experiences before, where I have seen a ghost; heard a ghost; and felt the presence of a spirit (where some one seemed to have sat on the end of my bed - I found out afterwards that the ghost of a little girl is supposed to haunt that room, as well as the corridor it is on)!!

that anythign happening before then was before Christianity was prevalent?

So if Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, Plutarch etc were around in (insert date) BC does that mean none of their ideas could be borrowed from Christianity? Because it did not exist before then?

Also where did the very first ideas about women being naturally evil come from (the Bible did confirm it with its stories and 'original sin', Fall of Man caused by Eve, woman. But Aristotle etc were already saying these things before Christianity, were they the first people to say it?
