I mentioned Lucifer earlier and two Pagans had a fit because they weren't even aware that Lucifer was one of the old Gods long before the Christians inserted him into their bible as synonymous with "the devil". In taking offense, I believe we only enable the Christians to demonize various Pagan deities. It's that attitude, IMO, that turned Wicca into Christianity with a Goddess at the helm in the 90's.

Do you know how many pre-Christian gods ended up in Catholic made hierarchies of devils? So I'm tired of Pagan fear of Lucifer - a Pagan sun god! I'm taking Lucifer back - who's with me?

wolfblayde - I have been worshipping Lucifer as a deity in my eclectic pantheon for years and he has brought me nothing but enlightenment and happiness. I guess it's all in the perception.

Squishy - I agree!

Christians who said we could have him. Thank you. Now all we need you to do is to stop equating Lucifer with your devil and adversary. He never was. He was a Roman Sun God, much like the Egyptian God Ra.

For Pagans - Both Lucifer and Diana are ROMAN deities. Diana is the equivelent of the Greek Artemis, and Lucifer was another name for Apollo.

Okay - so here's how it happened. Obviously it was during the Roman empire that Christianity was born into. So it makes sense that the Christians would take Lucifer (same as Apollo) and turn him into their bad guy. How else could they demonize the Romans to their followers better than turning the head Roman deity into a devil?

A friend of mine tells me I'm off a bit (I'll accept that) :

The word Lucifer was the direct translation of the Greek eosphoros ("dawn-bearer"; cf. Greek phosphoros, "light-bearer") used by Jerome in the Vulgate, having mythologically the same meaning as Prometheus who brought fire to humanity.

Now that! is genuinely interesting. I am really glad you responded this way! Thank you!

I don't think Christians get it at all. Do you? If you can give more information and examples I know I would appreciate it!

I did know that the horns came from us. The horns were never a bad thing!!!! Moses was represented with horns in early there is even a fantastic sculpture of Moses by Sorel Etrog of Moses represented with horns, steriotypically and out of fear and ignorance this association developed into the belief of some groups that the Jewish people had horns. A very weird broken telephone line of belief development. I apologize for bringing that last one up, but is is in the context of the discussion. I know Jewish people do not have horns!

This is the odd thing about human history and the old knowledge. It is so distorted. As you rightly say now, we have been distorted, demonized, and I will add this is a form of propaganda what Christianity has done to us historically and even today. Sigh.

Thank you for your efforts Swordarkeereon. The story lines still do not work for me. The woman above frefers to a spoecific tail that I do not relate to. How do we sort this out if not with clearer examples? These individuals will never research it to understand the history!

Peace!

Sorry, Satan not Lucifer, I stand corrested justly!, is part of Christianity. Without this fow you would have no story.

Excellent! Thank you again for that info! I see the whole thing about 'light' now. This is sooooo! important!

You know, I wasn't going to respond to this but I saw that someone I admire posted the Isaiah passage and felt compelled to educate on that.

That is the ONLY passage in the bible that refers to "Lucifer" and it is NOT, I repeat, NOT about Satan. It is about a babylonian king who had tormented the Hebrew people for many years, and his fall from power.. if you read the entire passage, it becomes very clear. Lucifer is LATIN not Hebrew.. the actual Hebrew word is Hallel which means "praiser" in Hebrew and not "Light-bearer". It's a TOTAL mistranslation and misunderstanding of that passage of jewish scripture.

Btw, the jews do not see Satan (HaSatan) as the enemy of their god. He is, in fact, in God's employ. He is NOT a fallen angel.
If anyone is interested in how he came to be seen as a fallen angel, feel free to email me and I'll pass along details. I don't want to make this answer too long.

Well that's a good idea. Once you take Lucifer back there goes Satan. Many people would leave Christianity in a heartbeat and they know it. They lie when they say that they are Christians because they love Christ. They are Christians to avoid the threat of hell. Not all Christians are like that however I feel that many are.

<> Sorry. ALL Christians have self assurance interior the CHRISTIAN thought of eternal hell. <> Matt. 3:12; Luke 3:17 - John the Baptist reported the Lord will burn the chaff with unquenchable fireplace. This unquenchable fireplace is the state of eternal separation from God, which the Church has talked approximately as "hell" for 2,000 years. some Protestant communities now not renowned the certainty of hell. Matt. 25:40-one - Jesus says, "leave from me, you cursed, into the eternal fireplace arranged for the devil and his angels." Matt. 25:40 six - Jesus says, "they're going to pass away into eternal punishment" it is in connection with this infinite fireplace. Mark 9:40 seven-40 8 - Jesus refers to hell as the place the laptop virus would not die and the fireplace isn't quenched. It lasts perpetually. 2 Thess. a million:6-9 - the angels will contain flaming fireplace and the disobedient will go through punishment of eternal destruction. that's considered necessary observe that "destruction" does not mean "annihilation," as some Protestant denominations practice. It ability eternal exclusion from the presence of God. Jude 6-7 - the rebelling angels, and Sodom and Gomorrah, function an occasion by using contemporary technique a punishment of eternal fireplace. Rev. 14:11 - the worshipers of the beast go through and the smoke of their torment is going up endlessly. Rev. 20:10 - they're tormented interior the lake of fireplace and brimstone day and night perpetually and ever. Isaiah 33:14 - "Who human beings can stay interior the eternal fireplace?" that's a connection with hell it is perpetually. Isaiah sixty six:24 - their laptop virus shall not die and their fireplace shall not be quenched. we won't be able to fathom the soreness of this infinite separation from God. Jer. 15:14 - in my anger a fireplace is kindled which shall burn perpetually. Hell is the right compliment to the eternal bliss of heaven. Judith sixteen:17 - interior the day of judgment the Lord will take vengeance on the depraved and that they shall weep in soreness perpetually. Hell is a place that sinners have arranged for themselves by using rejecting God, who desires each and every person to be stored in His Son Jesus Christ. God sends no person to hell. <> You misspell "Protestant" and nonetheless have the audacity to call Christians "imbeciles"? i think of you are the single that needs to smarten up right here.

Isaiah 14:12-15 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

If you want Lucifer, help yourself. It'd make Christians' lives a lot easier if we didn't have to deal with him on a daily basis.

I wish you all the best with this little project. . .given the misery and despair that Lucifer has caused over the years, I think you're going to need all the help you can get.

"I am the Lord your God, there IS NO OTHER."
Sorry, bub, but Lucifer is not part of Christianity anymore since he rebelled against God and was THROWN OUT OF HEAVEN.
1. He lost to God before creation of man.
2. He lost to God in the garden of Eden.
3. He lost a "bet" to God about Job.
4. He lost at Calvary when Jesus was resurrected.
5. He will get thrown in chains for a thousand years.
6. He will lose the final battle at Armageddon.
7. He will be in tormant forever in the lake of fire.
Why associate with a future seven time loser?
