Finally! A real, serious, friendly question!! ?

Question

First of all I like to say that with this question I don't intend to insult anybody. I really appreciate you all, whether you are Muslim, atheist, Christian, agnostic, agnostic atheist, agnostic theist, Pagan, Wiccan, Hindu, Buddhist, straight, gay, bi-sexual, a-sexual, non-sexual, male, female, transsexual,black, white, yellow, purple, brown or even if you're Italian.

I honestly try to understand you all, whether you love people, higher powers, animals or trees, or even all four of those items. With that I don't mean to refer to humans or gods or trees or animals as 'items', I just didn't know a better word. I'm Dutch, sometimes I just can't find better words in my vocabulary. I'm truly sorry for that. It really wasn't meant to offend.

Hmm.. Now I forgot what I wanted to ask.

Anyway, what is the point of an online forum, if a large group of the users assume that every question is meant to insult or offend, and with that needs a 700 words disclaimer?

I absolutely ♥ you, Markyyy. What a lovely question. In the past hour I have been scurrying to add disclaimers to my questions because rather than reading through the question, people have been judging my words based on the fact that I am an agnostic-atheist. These 700 word disclaimers are driving me nuts, and I'm the one writing them. I was recently told I had been reported for "immaturity". It's news to me that Yahoo considers that an offense but they apparently do, according to a couple of questions I had reported yesterday and today. Why don't these finger-trigger people go to other boards and report the guys trying to pick up little girls or threatening others with harm? Why is it alright to insist someone is going to hell but if we fight against it our questions our deleted?

Thank you for this question. I hope it doesn't get deleted by some fundaNazi who doesn't think it's properly worded as a question. I have asked similar questions before and had them deleted. I do admit to being sardonic and sarcastic sometimes, but it's more to lighten up the place than to offend anyone, or to ask honestly why my beliefs don't "belong" in this section. As an atheist and a humanist, I am one of those finds spirituality in humanism. As an agnostic, I find spirituality in energy. As for immaturity, look at my avatar! What do you think? ;-) There is no reason to believe one shouldn't be on these boards because they don't believe in gods. Our faith lies in our tolerance and wish for the advancement of mankind. We attempt to make that faith reality in our actions. We all belong here.

By the way, the Italian knock was priceless LOL. Man, between you and AcidZebra, I'm ready to move to the Netherlands. Then again, it seems BonsaiBobby has a desire for Jews, and I am of said heritage. Woo hoo! So many men, so little time!

You are right all that is unnecessary and no one is going to go through all that. No one is asking for it either. The point is that certain questions are meant to be insulting and have no basis in truth. Some derogatory and disrespectful remarks are posted that are totally uncalled for. Maybe you haven't seen many of them. The point is most people do not get upset over someone disagreeing with them, at least I dont. The problem is when someone is aiming to insult instead of trying to discuss a point

Also I am curious as to how far do you think is it disagreeing and when does it become bashing?

Man are you lucky I am not the lyin of jugpeeah that guy has no sense of humor ! Friend of mine a really nice person had some problems with him a while ago before she blocked him she was reported 5 times . Guy can't get along with anyone ! Funny part is she's not even a Atheist !

For some, it is easier to mock what they claim they know (when they don't) then back up the claim of what they do know.

For Christians, there are quite few of us who have experienced God and witnessed His miracles and signs. Atheists mock this claim, since they have not experienced or can accept the supernatural into their natural ways of logic. Thus, they deny the supernatural based on their experience.
I have a hard time understanding why some people decide to degrade the effort with vulgarity, mocking for the purpose of insult, and bring up such trivial questions to attract attention that it makes what could've been a good idea gone sour at times due to this mundane thinking.
This could be so useful and humane, but sometimes the effort is wasted when the bad apples are picked off the tree and thrown at those who truly want answers and the best.
I believe in one God, nature was created by God but is NOT God, Jesus died for and by our sins, was resurrected on the third day and will return for those who love Him and know Him. People have the right to believe in what they will, God gives all free will to make these choices. But I also believe all actions will have consequences and reactions - you reap what you sow. You will treat others as you want to be treated.

Nothing is a discussion anymore. Everything seems to be a debate.
I've asked honest questions, looking for answers. Some people have helped and been very informative, but most are just paranoid and on the alert for anything that might threaten their beliefs. I'm not a threat, just curious, so I ignore the fanatics and listen to the educated well informed people who give good answers.

Seriously, though, it's a real shame that so many questions ARE meant to insult or offend that we all tend to come out fighting first, and...well nothing later, really, we all just come out fighting. I know I do this, anyway. I try to look at someone's profile or previous questions before I launch into an attack based on one dodgy question, but sometimes that doesn't help.

And then, some people are just knobs!

We are all bored or lonely and it is easier to sit her and type drivel than to get off our butts and clean house, make dinner, call a friend, mow the lawn or do anything of real substance. But that is the curse of the modern, internet driven world, we have nothing better to do becuase we are addicted to it, always afraid to get away from the screen for too long for fear we will miss something.

Thank you for your patience. We are knuckleheads. This forum is a holy attempt at understanding each other, often having the accidental benefit of revealing to us our own errors. Of course it's chaotic. Of course daily we demonstrate our unbelievable skills in the much revered art of misunderstanding. But unless we do so demonstrate said skills, we won't notice it, appreciate it for what it is, and evolve. Painful but necessary.

Seriously, the world is full of touchy, easily offended people. Ignore 'em or metaphorically chew their keisters into a lace tablecloth. That's what I do.
