I simply don't believe in it. Many don't, that's why scare tactics will not work.

I respect what you believe, but it seems so many can't respect me.

And if you don't respect me, why would I want to follow your religion?

Isn't witnessing disrespectful in general? Like, "Hey, excuse me, your religion isn't good enough, listen to mine which is right".

how come we can't believe in him after we die? certainly someone as all-knowing as he must realize that he'll have more believers in the afterlife if he actually exists.

I've looked it up at wikipedia. But it said it has to do with the raising of dead spirits. From what you told me, it sounds different. Is there any way to beat it or break the spell? For my story, I have my main character eject the image before it goes too far, and to block it out of her mind, like mind over matter. (I'm asking this in Paranormal too.)

I've originally asked this in Psychology last fall.

What my purpose in life is:

I choose my own purpose. It's a wonderful feeling. If I meet someone who needs help, I'll help them for them, not for a God, and it feels wonderful to have that human contact. The same with animals.

How to be moral:

It's common sense- treat others the way you'd like to be treated. It's a universal concept that has existed longer than any religion today.

How to be a good wife, sister, friend, etc:

I care about these people because I love them. I do what makes them happy, and what will help them grow if I feel the need to mentor.

I'm not an Atheist but I don't believe in God either, and I certainly make my own rules reguarding my life. I think I do a pretty good job.

My question is, why do so many people think only a God can do this for you? They act like Atheists are immoral, but that's a horrible predjudice. I hope I helped you understand their (and mine) point of view a little better.

In fact, I believe whole heartedly it was meant to be this way and have learned much from the experienced. I feel I am a better person for it. I can never be accepted by Christians for this and many other supposed sins I have commited. Why? I even prayed for guidance and still feel my actions were correct.

This Pastor is on Myspace looking for sex. (Without question). This is how I responded.

Trevor, if you love God I want you to read all that I have to say!

Do you not fear God? Do you think you will not be held accountable? You were "chosen" to teach and educate us and here you are letting the Devil use you in the worst way. I HAVE LOST TOTAL FAITH IN THE CHURCH; AND IN MAN. These supposed men of God do not practice what they preach. Your congregation are poor sinners looking to you for guidance and direction and here you are on Myspace looking for sex on Easter Sunday!!!! I will NEVER EVER gain trust in the clergy ever again in my life................................. Thank you for opening my eyes wide! All churches are ruled by Satan. I fear the man that does not fear God.

I'm sure there are others. Here is his website.

So I told god, knock me out if you're real! Prove yourself! Now!

I waited...
and waited...
and waited......
and eventually fell asleep.

Is this a sign from god?!

Anunicornists say that they don't have a faith, since they don't believe in unicorns. However, doesn't it take as much faith to not believe in unicorns as it does to believe in them?

Thanks for the answers. And while we're at it, can you think of other "not believing" belief systems?

So why are we trying to make gay marriage illegal? Jesus says to love our enemies....

In the bible Jesus says that if our eye causes us to sin by looking at someone who isn't our husband or wife, we should remove our eye, because it's more important to have a place in heaven that have an eye....We're not really doing this....Why do so many of us hate homosexuals? It makes my stomach feel upset......I love you all, but if you're Christian, regardless of denomination, I love you all more, but please, what do we dislike them?

Okay so here's the story.I have been going through some problems and feeling hopeless and unwanted.I asked that the Lord send me a shooting star to let me know that everything will be okay and for me to be able to believe that He will answer my prayers, because I was somewhat skeptical. The first two times I looked out my window asking to see the star I didn't,but then I decided to look again and while I was looking I said,"just to make a wish",and then I said,"oh there's no stars out",a split second later I saw a shooting star and was amazed.I don't want to doubt God but I dont know if i should take it as God answering my prayer or simply a coincidence please tell me your opinions on this I would greatly appreciate it.

since the theists seem monumentally unable to come up with arguments that are meaningful to us, allow me to play deveil's advocate.
We assert there is no empirical evidence for the existence of God and I am as convinced of this as you are. But isn't there a philosophical a priori to this argument? That the empirical world is THE world and there are no others? And if we can't prove this assertion (and I don't think I can, anyway) then isn't that an "act of faith?"

What do you think?

I am interested in learning about the Bible rather than doing a topical-type study, meaning I'd like to learn about the Bible as one might do at a Bible college. However, I can't attend one physically. Does anybody know of a way I can do this online? Also, if the cost is high, are there scholarships available?

To tell her I love her dark coloring and she looks exotic? How can I prepare a biracial daughter to be the only colored woman in her family since she would probably marry white and her kids would be white and not colored like her. She will be 1/4 Indian from India and the rest white. I want to make sure she doesn't feel bad about being colored.
