"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

"...And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:"
1 John 2:1

We know we can go directly to Christ in our prayer, because he tells us so. We are even allowed to make requests of him.

"...yet ye have not, because ye ask not." James 4:3

Why does roman catholocism call for people to confess their sins to a priest? Why not go directly to Christ and confess your sins?

Have you guys ever watched I Heart Huckabees? They explained the "blanket theory"- using a blanket, they point out that if you think of the blanket as the Universe, one person is here, another is there, and Earthquake is there, a war is over there, someone is dying over there, someone is celebrating a birthday there (pointing to different parts of the blanket) that they are all part of the same blanket.

I'm not saying the Christian God isn't a part of God. But maybe it's just one face. Over there on the other side of God, people see a different perspective of the same thing. If you look at them seperately, they may appear to have many dissimilarities, but if you zoom out you'll realize they are the same.

How can it be good if it cause strife between people? Not that I don't believe in God, but at the same time, what's the point in presbyterian, protestant, baptist, catholic, etc? I just don't see the almighty God or Allah actually wanting their people to kill in their names and be divided.

I am really concerned about my 16 year old daughters views and I'm starting to think she may get herself into trouble. First of all i got a call from school saying that she had wrote in an RE essay that 'catholicism is a hypocrasy as they worship the pope as gods representative on earth when in his youth he was a nazi and one of his main jobs in the catholic church before been a pope was to protect peadophiles, and in effect is a walking condolence of two of the biggest evils on earth, peadophilia and nazism' the school said it was unacceptable, however in all fairness she did criticise all other religons. However now i've noticed her views are getting more extreme I mean today she declared she whole heartedly believes in an economy free society with no money and everyone fends for themselves with what resources they have as money was invented to keep people in a pecking order. I also notice a few anti-semitic sentiments too. What can i say to get her to stop saying such things?

Iv read the bible countless times, and i am a Christian but it really only talks about womens unfaithfulness and how it is a sin. Some of Gods greatest followers had many wives. Soloman had many many wives and he was loved by God. It really dont say in the bible that men have to be faithful to their wife, or have only one wife for that matter.

I attended a church where the men and women sat on opposite sides, the women wore veils and skirts all the time and had their hair always tied back, and everyone avoided worldy entertainment. A year of that was enough for me. I don't want to go a church where it's too laid back, but I certainly don't want one as suffocating as the one I went to.
