Have you guys ever watched I Heart Huckabees? They explained the "blanket theory"- using a blanket, they point out that if you think of the blanket as the Universe, one person is here, another is there, and Earthquake is there, a war is over there, someone is dying over there, someone is celebrating a birthday there (pointing to different parts of the blanket) that they are all part of the same blanket.

I'm not saying the Christian God isn't a part of God. But maybe it's just one face. Over there on the other side of God, people see a different perspective of the same thing. If you look at them seperately, they may appear to have many dissimilarities, but if you zoom out you'll realize they are the same.

After pondering on that, one realizes that not only is God the same, but if you zoom out more, we are the same as God, as an arm is part of a hand, and they are all part of the same body.

tebone: I agree. I was refering to Christianity as our way of looking at God.

Not my way of looking at God since I think you can see what I think.

Andrew, you are right in that we do not see the full view of the divine. But God is real because it's a real part of the divine that we see. The God of the Bible is jealous and vengent, because that's a real view of the universe through our perspective.

Batsfan, I love your idea.

I have always believed that God is bigger than any one religion. I believe there is one God: not that other gods or religions are false, just that we all view the same god in different ways.

My only issue is with religions that portray God as an evil, hateful being when I sincerely believe that nothing could be farther from the truth.

God has no religion.

While we are the pieces of the divine puzzle, the reality is that the puzzle is eternally infinite in its expanse.

That is God's puzzle!

To me, there is no Real (Full) Truth besides what is internal and personal. For the Truth can be, and usually is, very different for the variety of mankind.

And, it is only when mankind realizes that one's own internal personal Truth is reflective of all others' internal personal Truths that a peace will overwhelm the earth.

Here's my outlook on the subject. I believe that God is more like a force running through the universe that we are all a part of. We experience things in the physical universe for him, because he cannot be a part of the physical realm. We go on being a part of it even after we die. We do not need organized religion to be with God. I believe that God is all loving and that he would never purposely kill anyone like they say in the Bible.

I applaud you, that's a good way of explaining it. That's pretty much how I think of God too. All different perspectives of the same Being. Everyone's brain works differently, how I solve a problem, for example, might not be the way you solve the same exact problem. So it would be absurd, in my opinion, to think that one religion, one way of thinking about God, could fit with all of the different ways of thinking out there.

May the Divine bless you with many, many happy days to come. (and a happy day today) :)

Ah...she is on to something! Yes I agree. A Pagan would say that the Christian God is a facet or an aspect of the whole. Think of a large diamond. That diamond has thousands of facets. That is kind of what The Divine or God is. As humans, it is very hard for us to accept the entire diamond because it is so brilliant, so we focus on just one facet. I feel that God has many faces and many names. I you keep this kind of open mind, you will learn far more than many people. Blessings to you, Diana

Christianity may not be bigger than God but it's our belief in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

God the Father, sent his only Son Jesus Christ, the God the son, to save us from our sins and have everlasting life.

I see a logic in your theory, but I would then ask you - who does God say He is?? I think that would be the answer that really matters. We can theorize all we want about whatever, but in the end, it's what God says about Himself and what He expects of us that really matters. Ever heard the saying "just because you don't believe doesn't mean it's not true"

I would readily accept the One God - Many Faces idea. It goes along with what I already think. I believe all paths can be valid for someone and there's something of value we can learn from each path. It was a wise Buddhist who once said, "All religions are just different paths to the same place." That's one of the neatest bits of wisdom regarding religion that I've ever heard.

I actually played with that idea myself in a movie I'm trying to write.

A robot from outer space who can bend the physical laws of time and space meets a human on Earth, and at one point reveals that he's been to the dimension that we humans call "Heaven", and that God looks like different things to different people, depending on who they are, what they are, and where they were born. To the robot, God looks like a giant iMac. *lol*

God is Omni-present. The God of the Bible says there is no other god beside Him in the Heaven. There is the devil and his demonic angels that are in the air.

God is eternal. God's word will last forever. Amen.
