I simply don't believe in it. Many don't, that's why scare tactics will not work.

I respect what you believe, but it seems so many can't respect me.

And if you don't respect me, why would I want to follow your religion?

Isn't witnessing disrespectful in general? Like, "Hey, excuse me, your religion isn't good enough, listen to mine which is right".

The opinions of human answerers may be interesting, but Christians will be guided by the opinions of God and Christ. The bible plainly requires Christians to be "witnesses" and to preach.

Really, everyone who respects and obeys Jesus Christ goes from door to door to teach his neighbors about the Bible's good news. It is interesting that only Jehovah's Witnesses are so clearly identified with the preaching work; globally more than 6 million preach publicly each month.

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.

(Acts 5:42) Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.

(Acts 20:20) I did not hold back ...from teaching you publicly and from house to house

It's sad when someone who claims to respect the bible actually insults or even advocates attacking a peaceful preacher. Sad but completely expected.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching... You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Really, if someone goes out of their way to disregard Christian preachers and preaching, what is he saying about himself?

(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos... “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”

First, depending upon how the information is conveyed, the context, it can be a scare tactic. It isn't meant to be. The fact is, we try to tell people the WHOLE truth.
I am sorry that you have been disrespected. Most likely the people/persons grew frustrated and lost their control. I'm not handing them an excuse, merely offering a possible explanation.
Witnessing is not disrespectful in general, if it is done correctly, and from the proper motive, which should be love.
I hope that you may one day find someone that you can sit down with and really dig into matters to further your understanding.
By the way, the emphasis should not be placed on Hell, but rather on God, and what He has done for mankind by dying on the cross as our sin-bearer. THAT is what is at the heart of witnessing. Take care.

Bravo! effective! I even have asked myself this many cases! So some poor slob resides an exemplary life of love and kindness in his very own lifestyle and is abruptly informed approximately Jesus by ability of a stranger. He reads the Bible and mutually as he sees some good in it, makes a decision he prefers his interior of sight faith which has made him the guy he's and is does not rather have self belief all the wonderful claims of this distant places faith. Oh nicely, gee whiz, too undesirable for you presently, now you recognize approximately Jesus so merely you're **** out of success, pal! settle for it or burn! Sound like a straightforward gadget from a sensible God? won't be able to you merely sense the affection? provided which you're an fool. and then the comparable Christian stranger kills the guy, who then is going to hell. Later, the Christian repents of that homicide and is going merrily off to heaven. Why won't be able to we use that gadget right here in the international? merely tell the decide which you're rather rather sorry for what you probably did and he will set you up with a condominium in the Caribbean!

Actually it's not, when you find something so wonderful it makes you happy, so happy you have to tell someone, hence witnessing.

Hell is not a scare tactic, it's a place you dont understand and so you have no fear of it. You can't imagine it happening to you or anyone else because you have no idea what it would be like. Not saying you aren't smart or anything, but it's beyond human knowledge to know what it would be. All we know about it is what we are told.

Personally, I think the most useful ways to point out the bible is real is to point to the end time events and show the people who I am speaking with (who are actually listening) how they compare to the world THEY are living in. I've listed several of them many times and invited anyone who see's them to mail me for more if they want to see them. I've recieved several such requests since and will gladly look all of them up for details to help you see the truth.

When people try to save others, they have to mention what you are being saved FROM, and many see this as a scare tactic, and it's not. How can you say you are trying to save them if they dont know the danger? If someone just tackles you out of no where and you see no danger, wouldn't you be upset? Well that's why people feel the way they do about us. They see us tackling them for no reason, they dont see there IS a reason, they just dont see it or understand it. Might not be a good example, but I just recently saw that "office line backer" clip and couldn't come up with something better atm. :)

I know exactly what you mean. When I mention I'm an atheist to the Christians there is the same come back all the time. But if you don't believe your going to hell. Well, if I don't believe in god or heaven, I surely don't believe in hell, do I.
But they never seem to grasp the logic in that.
I'm also not threatened by the boogie man, the troll under the bridge, or Benny Hinn.

I always maintain that the best form of witnessing that Christians could do would be to be as loving as they possibly can. Just love everyone, no matter who they are or what they think. That would make their religion a lot more attractive than telling people that they are wrong and bad, and that they're going to hell.

Respect is earned. Whether you believe in hell or not, it does not matter. Hell still exists and if you don't believe in Jesus, that's where you are going. God said, witness and preach the gospel in all of the world. Who should I listen to, you or God? Who has earned my respect? You or God. Only 2 religions - God and man. You've chosen man and yourself which are the same.

No scare tactics here - just the facts. You either believe or you don't believe. God says you are without excuse when it comes to believing in Him.

I agree with you, absolutely.
I'm always tempted, when a Christian "witnesses" at me (no, not To me, that would require me inviting them to do so, and not just having it forced upon me), to say "How about I tell you something of my beliefs?".
I just want to see their eyes glaze over, or watch the cloud of dust as they run for the hills.
I really think they'd have a higher success rate in "converting" (or even raising anything more than the slightest flicker of interest) if they practiced a little quid pro quo.
But that might be a bit much to ask...

It bothers me as a follower of Christ because I know that's where you will end up for eternity, and I know that God the Father Almighty doesn't want you to end up in Hell. He has made it clear that it's my job to share the good news of Jesus with all who will listen. I understand that you don't believe in it, and that's your right and your choice, but it would be a sign of disrespect to the Father who provided for my salvation and the Son who paid for my salvation with His own blood if I didn't spread the word. It's not our job as Christians to convert people, but it is our job to proclaim Jesus and give everyone a chance to hear the gospel. It's entirely up to you, but may I quote one of my favorite bumper stickers: "If you believe there is no God, YOU HAD BETTER BE RIGHT!"

Most people don't realize what the Bible says Hell is. Hell is the end of existence for your soul. Kind of a comforting thought actually.
