It's because that in certain parts of the bible, namely the old testament, God claims that marriage is between "Man and Woman."
Also in the Old Testament, the book of Leviticus, or whichever have the laws, there were several laws prohibiting and punishimg people for being gay.
In Sodom and Gammorah, the towns are destroyed because men want to molest the angels.
All evidence from Christianity against gays is found in the Old Testament, and namely the book which contains all the laws. What most Christians fail to understand, however, is that, at that time, humanity was still new. Our numbers were few, and we were all essentially children, because we were new to the earth. God, like a parent, had to teach us something then, and if we wanted to populate, being gay wasn't the way to go. The laws in the Old Testament were merely for humans during our early years, because that is the only way you can teach a child. How do you punish a baby? Say "No." Spank them. How do you punish men when civilization is just starting and they don't want to mate? Kill them.
And gays aren't our enemies, so the "Love your enemies" thing doesn't apply.

I am a lesbian and I don't like how your referring to me as a enemy, but I do like the point that you are making. The bible has been rewritten so many times and you can't take everything word for word, especially the part where everyone likes to think it is downing homosexuality. I think if Jesus were here he would say love everyone. Love them regardless of race, sex, denomination, etc. There should be no hate. And Being Gay doesn't even mean your a bad person. Dont judge or discriminate. God loves everyone regardless of what "sins' you make, you should too. I love you and everyone in here, even if you say you hate me for being a Lesbian.

I am no expert, but I do believe that in the beginning, God made man and then made woman from the man to be part of the man, so that there was two and it was good. Jesus may have said to love your enemies, but gays are not our enemies. Gays are different, and a lot of people dislike anything that is different. Differences cause fear and fear causes hate. If you meet a gay person and become friends with that person before you find out that he or she is gay, do you stop being friends with that person because of their sexual preference? If so, I would not want your friendship.

I am a Christian and don't have a problem with homosexuals. The problem is that many Christians believe that gay means a couple of hairy men wearing thongs and groping each other at a parade. And then there is a very vocal and a bit militant group of gays who hate all Christians, which doesn't help. I believe they will be allowed to marry within a few years and everyone will wonder what the big deal was in the first place.

Gosh, I didn't realize that I disliked them or that they were my enemy. WOW! Thank you for clarifying that for me.
I do dislike the gay agenda and the endeavor to make personal sexual behavior mainstream and parade it in front of people of all ages. I don't think it is "normal" or "natural" and I certainly don't want it being taught in school as though you need to make a choice and therefore identify with a particular group.
As for gay marriage, the terms are mutually exclusive. Marriage is not man's concept; marriage is a union between a man and a woman. Again, the endeavor to make homosexual behavior mainstream is at the heart of gay marriage. Perhaps society needs a way to recognize the committed union of these people, however, I would submit that the vast majority are not in committed relationships but very open ones.

The Bible tells us that Homosexual acts are wrong. This puts us to a Hate the action, Love the one performing the action situation. I doubt many, if any, true Christians would have anything to do with ANY politics, since the Bible tells us the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.

Not an upset tum-tum - poor precious. It's probably all the bile, I understand sanctimony is a big cause of bloat.
How about getting off the hobby-horse and taking a look around in the here and now. Or have you had to remove both eyes?
You know it's funny, I don't have any enemies that I know of. Do they come automatically when you find Jesus, or do you have to send away for them separately?

You brought up an issue, I myself "abhor" about christianity. In the time of Jesus, there WERE gay people. Don't you think, if he DISAPPROVED of it he would have said something about it? Never did, did he. All he said was simply to love one another. The FLESHLY issues are not the concerns of the holy in heaven. That which we do to RESTRAIN the serenity of our spirit ARE the issues Jesus tryed to get people to understand. The cut off this or cut off that was not meant as to go out and DO IT, what it was meant to INSTILL was CUTTING off the bad BEHAVIORS / ATTITUDES which make people do wrong. It is NOT the job of people in ANY religion to go around pointing fingers and judging others. How "other" people behave should only be a concern when it affects the "whole" and have never seen anything WRONG in how gay people live. For one, it's not my business. I personally would rather see a gay couple who love each other than all these men and women who bounce from one marriage to another producing children who are so confused they become just as unstable in marriages as their parents. And THIS is socially ACCEPTABLE???????

Jesus speaks in many parables and in many figurative sentences. He's just saying that we should find a way to stop ourselves from sin.
As for the gay issue. It states right in the bible that homosexuality is wrong. Now, yes...we should love our enemies. We should love everyone. JUST BECAUSE WE LOVE EVERYONE DOES NOT MEAN WE HAVE TO LIKE WHAT THEY DO. Many people misread this. I am 100% against homosexuality. However...I have friend (s) that are gay, and I love them. I don't like what they do. Don't get the two messed up. We should not hate homosexuals, but that does not mean we have to agree with their beliefs or systems.

loving our enemies does not mean we can tolerant every thing they do- actually those who we consider not an enemy we cannot either. If you have children, you of course love them and they are not your enemy. But if they were doing something that you consider wrong- if it goes against your rules in the family- and if your children were doing something that hurt them, would you do and say nothing- because you love them? I hope not. When I was growing up my mom and dad did not tolerate everything I did, because they loved me- they showed me a better path and disciplined me when I was wrong-and as I look back I am thankful for that. Loving everyone is a commandment of God, however love is not tolerance for sin. If it was God would just say He loved us, and would not have had to send Jesus to the cross to die for our sins- NOW THAT IS LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
