I asked this before but I thought I would phrase it another way, I was involved in a church whos membership consisted of mainly one family and a few other members, anytime a non family member was nominated for a church leadership position, a member of the family would nominate a member of their family for that position and since the majority is family that person would win the election. That seems to me to be at best questionable don't you think? This one family wants to run the entire show, I know my offering won't be to that church anymore. What do you all think?

Back in the old days god used to speak to people all the time, I cant remember who, but I saw it in a few bible movies and such. Does god still talk to his followers?

I ask this because I had a voice in my head the other day, it was a strong voice, and sounded very wise, and was offering some good advice. I just need to know could it have been god? Or should I make a doctors appointment for myself?

Does it terrify you, as much as it does me? I will do anything to stay out of hell, and I absolutely do not want anyone to go to hell. Always before I started studying it, I wanted only for others to know the love of Jesus Christ. Now, I feel a sence of urgency that is telling me, Girlie, you need to let my people know how horrifying hell is.
People are always joking and using hell in their everyday language. From what I have learned it is not a joking matter. Just absolutely horrible. Anyone else have insight into hell. Serious answers only please!

I am not neccessarily looking for passages from the bible as they confuse me. I am instead looking for your honest opinion based on your knowledge of the scriptures. Question: If a person was to go through life neither believing nor disbelieving God but staying open to the fact that he might exist while at the same time trying to do good works and help his fellow man just because it is the right thing to do would God condemn him or take him into heaven? More to the point is it ok(With God) to just be a good person, helping others ectera. or do you have to pray and be on your knees in worship in order to get his blessing and move on? I except that he exsists, i realize that works wont get me into heaven and do not use them this way. (I do what i do without any expectation of reward)

I believe that religion is quite frankly 'a joke'. I believe that there is some supreme power however I do not believe that 'you will go hell if you commit sins and are not virtuous'. Religion had been used in the past to scare people into doing what is 'right' and so that people had something to explain the things that they didn't know, however nowadays i feel that religion is very unnecessary due to the modern society which we live in. We now have science to answer our questions, and disprove the existance of 'God' does anyone agree??

This one puzzled me even as a kid in the catholic church.

No believer has ever given me a reasonable answer for it.

How can some strange intelligence being there to create the cosmic stuff make more sense than the cosmic stuff just being there.

If God were there before the cosmic stuff, then he is made of whatever God would be made of. It doesn't matter if it's nothing like atoms or energy as we know it.

So you end up with old chicken and egg routine.

Doesn't it make more sense to just take one of them out of the equation and just say "the chicken (cosmic stuff) was always there, there was no egg"?

We know what year Christ died. We know how the Jewish Passover was determined.. So even if we narrow it down to a range we should be able to determine the date of a Friday or Sunday in that period.. So why can't we find the exact date of the Resseruction?

Actually I believe in Spirituality...and not organized religion, but in asking this question, let's find out what beliefs you think are necessary to create a spiritual minded group of individuals.
What important Biblical truths would be a part of this church?

Would there be a "leader"?

Would the individuals be Baptized? Sprinkling or immersion?

What beliefs concerning the Trinity would there be?

What beliefs about "Hell" would there be?

Who would be God's special group of people?

Is Jesus the head of the church?

Any other doctines that seem necessary to be a part of this group?
There's so many ideas, ( not necessarily in agreement ) out there, about religions or churches...so I wonder what we would want, if we could start our own group?

After all Muslims, Catholics, Jews, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormans,7th Day Adventists' , etc all believe that theirs is the right path.

Don't you think it would be a bit funny if the world was to end and they found that the true religion was in fact the Hare Krishna's!!

But this moral rule is out the door when reffering to SOME animals. People, we cant pick and choose what "rules" we want to obey. Wrong to kill your cat, right to kill a cow, a pig, a lamb. If God (a good God) wanted us to eat animals why would God create these animals with the ability to feel and suffer? Why not just create another type of plant with a meaty texture? Why something that roams and breathes and loves its family, too? Thats because its wrong, and just another hypocrisy. People, we cant just pick and choose what we want to accept as right. Books, beliefs, ect, all invented by other people. People who know nothing more than the rest of us.
