And should we protect it or just let it be till it dies?

You don't even truly have that.

This is more easily understandable if one considers the actual scale of the components of an atom. If one takes into account the fact that the neutrons, protons and electrons of an atom actually have huge spaces between them it becomes clear that the atoms that make up seemingly solid objects are made up of 99+ percent empty space.

This alone does not seem too important till you add the idea that the atoms that make up seemingly solid objects are more of a loose conglomeration that share a similar attraction but never really touch each other.

At first glance this does not really seem relevant, but closer analysis reveals that this adds a tremendous amount of empty space to solid objects that are already made up of atoms that are 99 percent space. When so-called solid objects are seen in this light it becomes apparent that they can in no way be the seemingly solid objects they appear to be.

We ourselves are not exceptions to this phenomenon.

These seemingly solid objects are more like ghostly images that we interpret as solid objects based on our perceptual conclusions.

From this we must conclude that Perception is some sort of a trick that helps us to take these ghostly images and turn them into a world we can associate and interact with. This clever device seems to be a creation of our intellect that enables us to interact with each other in what appears to be a three dimensional reality.

I hope that helps to answered your question.

No, I do not think it is the only thing we truly own. We have no relevant definition of "ownership" that does not include the things we can report stolen and enter an insurance claim if it shows up missing.

We need to be careful not to use up words. If you say "we never own anything," then ownership is a meaningless term.

As to our bodies, clearly we should take good care of them and not put toxins in them. Get proper exercise, etc. However, sometimes we forget, or get depressed, etc. Let's resolve to do the best we can, and accept the indulgence of a piece of chocolate now and again.

I don't think we own are own bodies even because if one tries to take there life and fail they are in trouble with the law for doing so which I think is wrong. They need help, not punishment.
If one is Christian we are to look after the bodies we have. They are only tents we live in until we pass on to our heavenly bodies. Also if we don't look after our bodies how can we live or be productive if we are always sick or in pain.

We do not even own these bodies, They too belong to God. They are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are to take the best care we can of them.

And fundamentalists insist on telling us what we can and can't do with our own bodies.

No man hates his, her flesh.
GOD gave us these bodys, and we should try to take good care of them.
GOD gave us a "soul" too, should take good care of those too!
