Combativeness between religions is just that...between religions...which are man made. Nowhere in the Bible does Jesus even hint at the need for specific religious bodies to exist. A Christian is taught to follow the lead of Christ. Thus the name.
I am not saying that some of the followers of Jesus did not organize religions. Apparently they did...but Jesus himself never said anything about it according to the scriptures. Jesus followers were good men...but they were men...not the son of God.

Well, my religion is Hinduism, and there are a few Hindus who have become combative against the Muslims in India. I do not approve of this, but what can I do to stop them? All I can do is try to get the word out about the true Hindu teachings of peace. We can demonstrate that peaceful means are effective, such as the ways of Gandhi. So by example and education.
But there will always be people - whether they claim a particular religion or do not - who act violently. They are responsible for their own actions. Why am I responsible for their actions just because they claim to follow the same religion I do? Am I also responsible for the actions of all who claim to follow the same political ideology as me? I don't see how that makes any sense.

Since I'm the only person in the world with my specific religious beliefs (a mixture of paganism, Wicca, Taoism, and agnosticism), the only person who could be "combative" is me.
I don't think I'm really the combative type. I believe in "live and let live" and only get tough with people if they're trying to jerk me around in some way.
Some people think I'm being "combative" when I'm really only being a smart-@ss.

I'm fairly non-religious but try to live by what is known as the gold rule (do unto others...). I've followed a pagan path in the past, and still do to some extent (minus dieties) and anyone who wants to be combative is welcome to. I won't be...not over religion (or lack thereof) anyway.

By setting the example. Honestly, I can only control my own behavior. I can't speak for, nor can I alter the behavior of others.
