Good question. Especially when you say "regardless of religion." When we hear the word kingdom, we always think of thrones, crowns - literal or symbolic. We think of reigning and kings. We think of a form of government.
A kingdom is a form of government; a realm, the region or country governed by a king; kingly power, authority, dominion, reign; royal dignity, the title and honour of king and so on.

Kingdom = a king's authority or rule over a territory or over the hearts of men
Kingdom of God/Kingdom of Heaven = refers to when and where God rules, both present and future (MK 1:15, Matt.6:10). The Kingdom is considered to be a place where God's reign is complete. (Rev. 12:10)

Government, Mathew 6:9,10, Daniel 2:44, To choose a Government and to support a Ruler, needs serious thought.
It's time to choose. We can be ruled by man to our injury or by Our Creator and live on earth forever. See: Psalms 37:9-11, 29, Mathew 5:5
