I won't claim to speak for God, but according to the Qur'an, 2:62, christians, muslims, jews, sabians ANY who believe in God and work righteousness shall have their reward.
You say you accept God exists, so that's believing. You say you do good things just because it's right. According to my understanding, you qualify. A verse from the bible also has jesus saying that people expect to be rewarded for their vain repetitions and much speaking, so maybe some "good" religious people who are on their knees worshipping all the time won't make it, and you will. Ultimately, God's decision to make.

If you believe that there's a God, then you can't run away from Him. He wants all or nothing. If you know He's there you have to follow Him all the way.
Oh yeah, works can get you into Heaven. They don't 'save' you, since Christ did that, but each person has to work to get into Heaven. (Mt 7:21, Mt 19:16-17, Jam 2:14-24, Phil 2:12-13, Rom 2:2-8) Remember when Jesus separated the sheep and the goats in the Bible? (Mt 25:31-40) He says that the 'sheep' are blessed of His Father, and the gives the why: a whole list of good works that they did...

it seems as if u accept that there is a God but u don't really embrace Him fully. good works wont get anyone into heaven, not even mother theresa, it has to be ur ultimate faith and what u really believe in. u are on the right path, but put urself out there and believe that He is with u through the good nd bad. there's nothing better than knowing that u won't be here for the tribulation nut in heaven celebrating an eternal life : )

Increadibly interesting topic to spend some time contemplating on. It is difficult to look at what God wants us to do only referring to scripture. It must be remebered that the Bible, the Qu'ran, the Torah were all written by men - not by God. Although as a christian person I am meant to believe that God had a divine input into my scripture, as set out by the catholic church, it would be completley ignorant to think that the scripture we are presented with was written completely without biased, without self motivation behind it.
Sorry back on topic, a person doesnt have to be the most devout, or give the most money to charities to be part of the body of christ (I'm assuming that you are christian). Rather both ethically and as instructed by scripture people should live out their lives in a wholesome, kindly manner. When the disciples ask Jesus who amongst them is the greatest he points to a child and tells them that they should make themselves more ethical, more innocent like the child for the kingdom of heaven belongs to those who are like children.
Whether it is your beliefe that God 'exists' or otherwise do not get caught up in such miniscule elements of faith. Instead live out your life with humility, kindness and above all love for that in anyones books is an ethical life and certainly child like.

Being a good person is a trait that is honorable and grand. Someone once said "be the best person you can be and there will be one less scoundral in this world." The Bible lets us Know that being a good person is not quite enough. You must follow God and witness of Him to your fellow humans. I know this is hard to grasp but our own goodness can only go so far. We need the added grace that comes only with a heart that is surrended to the Lord. He then multiplies that goodness in our lives.

The truth is you should accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and seek repentance. Good works won't do. We all fall short of the glory of God. Good works just aren't enough. That's why he sent Jesus Christ. I actually want to be baptized but I'm too young... I have to wait for 3 more years. Well, God bless. Hope I helped bit. :)

"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord". I had to start the answer with these 2 verses- because no matter how good and helpful toward our fellow men we are - that does not save us. Staying open to the fact that He exists will not save you either- we all have to choose to accept the payment of our sins- which is ONLY through Christ. There is no fence-sitting with God- if you are not for Him, you are against Him. "It is by grace we are saved, not by works, lest any man can boast".

My friend he died for you and me and the whole world. All you have to do is, Admit your a sinner, know that as a sinner you deserve to go to hell, know that Jesus died for your sins, and truly ask Jesus to come in your heart, and take you to heaven when you die! That is the way to Heaven, no other way, but by Him. once that is done you can be 100% sure that you would go to heaven when you died. I hope you take the time and do this, my life has never been the same since doing this!!!

Unfortunately my friend, no. Just being "good" won't get you to heaven. By the way there is a passage in the Bible for stating that as well.
The only way to get to heaven is by repenting of your sins and accepting Jesus-Christ as your Lord and Savior.
If you are a true christian, you will see that after accepting Christ and following his word (The Bible), everything that you have just stated in your question will line up. You won't have to be good to get to heaven; you will be good because that is the just life asked for all Christians and you will get to heaven because you have surrendered your life to God.
So, in conclusion: no. Good deeds won't save you. That's why the Bible says Jesus-Christ is the ONLY way to heaven.

I would suggest you find your answer in the gospels of Christ. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. If Jesus said it or did it, then you can count on it. I agree, the rest of the Bible seems very confusing but I am not about to say that it also is not the word of God. Jesus used the K.I.S.S. principal so that we could understand.
