and read this comment
They built a long gibbet, low enough for the toes to touch the ground and prevent strangling, and hanged thirteen [natives] at a time in honor of Christ Our Saviour and the twelve Apostles. When the Indians were thus still alive and hanging, the Spaniards tested their strength and their blades against them, ripping chests open with one blow and exposing entrails, and there were those who did worse. Then, straw was wrapped around their torn bodies and they were burned alive." {p. 72}

If you do not do this, however, or resort maliciously to delay, we warn you that, with the aid of God, we will enter your land against you with force and will make war in every place and by every means we can and are able, and we will then subject you to the yoke and authority of the Church and Their Highnesses. We will take you and your wives and children and make them slaves, and as such we will sell them, and will dispose of you and them as Their Highnesses order. And we will take your property and will do to you all the harm and evil we can, as is done to vassals who will not obey their lord or who do not wish to accept him, or who resist and defy him. We avow that the deaths and harm which you will receive thereby will be your own blame, and not that of Their Highnesses, nor ours, nor of the gentlemen who come with us . . ."] Columbus

Of course it was. Once the religion got orgsanized enbough and powerful enough, it went across Europe as a conquerer not a peacemaker. A lot of people would like to believe that the "simple message" of Christianity was the cause of its popularity and spread in Europe, but history is proof that this was not so. The aggressive conquests continued into the "New World", and we are stuck with the results today: Decimated Native American tribes, Puritan traditions, and no small number of believers in the notion of "Christ Muscular".

Unfortunately many died due to the errors of men claiming to have knowledge of the truth of Christ. Catholicism was the greatest perpetrator of forcing its beliefs at the peril of the sword, but were not the only ones. Even today Catholic and Protestant groups who are void of understanding, continue to kill one another in hatred. The Word declares that God is Love and he who lives by the sword shall dies by the sword.
The Apostles warned the church continuously that 'grievous wolves' would enter in and would make merchandise (profit) of you. Religion, not Faith, has been the cause of many wars and death. Religion is the rigid concept of man's thinking of who God is and His way of thinking. But I must ask, who hath known the mind of God that they may instruct Him?

Most definitely, and with incredible violence. However, this is not nearly as true as for Islam. There were some major group conversions to Christianity that did not involve mass murder.

I suppose it was but unfortunately other religions are doing it now. Mainly because they are so far behind the modern world. The way we acted many centuries ago are being followed today by other religions. The west is no longer very religious.

No, by word of mouth.
If they were forcibly converted do you think they would have maintained their faith under threat of death.
As for the crusades it was ridiculous. In the Bible the sword was never used to convert but to conquer and it was always through God's power not mans.
