Does it terrify you, as much as it does me? I will do anything to stay out of hell, and I absolutely do not want anyone to go to hell. Always before I started studying it, I wanted only for others to know the love of Jesus Christ. Now, I feel a sence of urgency that is telling me, Girlie, you need to let my people know how horrifying hell is.
People are always joking and using hell in their everyday language. From what I have learned it is not a joking matter. Just absolutely horrible. Anyone else have insight into hell. Serious answers only please!

Just so you all know, I was born again many years ago, my sense of urgency is with the unsaved, the people that God loves so desperately that continue to turn their back on him. Yes, I know all of the love from God, I feel it with every ounce of my being. As his daughter, I know that I was put here to share the good news, and I have done that. What I wonder is people joking, "Atleast all my friends will be there", it is not a joking matter. Teeth gnashing, never being consumed by the fire, only burning eternally... that is not my idea of a comfy vacation.

I find some of the answer's here are definately from people who don't understand the burden placed on your heart. I've read about hell and I do not want any of my loved ones or anyone else for that matter. There is truth that it is described like Gehenna the dump. Always burning, but it also tells us it's a place where the worms crawl in and out of you forever no way to stop them. I just don't think people really get the message of what it will be like trying to swim in a lake of fire. Not just where the surface is on fire but the whole lake. Reminds me of a lava flow. By focusing on this I hope it gives you the urgency to show and tell other's of Gods love. For we know it's there choice, we can plant the seeds but in the end Jesus will do the reaping. I'm amazed at the way people percieve this place. They make lite of it, I think hoping that it is not going to be true. Very sad. The weeping and gnashing of teeth constantly from the impossability of escape from there chosen life style. We can tell them, but remember God will call them. Be faithful and do what you can, don't be ashamed as I'm sure your not to tell them. You'll find as I have very mixed reactions. Just like some of your answer's. But we can still pray for these people. God Bless you and thank you for the question.

Although the word heaven appears more often in the gospels than the word hell, Jesus spoke about hell more often than he did heaven. How could we comprehend heaven. Even hell. The worst is an eternal separation from God. It just doesn't seem to register much fear. Yet in the scriptures Jesus uses much more physical suffering to warn of hell. Go ahead and use Jesus' example. But be careful that you are not going off on your own crusade. Jesus uses some pretty harsh words.
Mat 23:17 You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that has made the gold sacred?
Joh 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires.
Mat 23:33 You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell?
Luk 11:40 You fools! Did not he who made the outside make the inside also?
However he is either talking to his disciples(believers) or the Pharisees(self-proclaimed righteous). We are to show God's love. Pray that the Holy Spirits lead you in your witness.
For those who don't believe in Hell.
Revelation 20
13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Pretty irrefutable to me.

It is described as being a furnace which will burn for eternity. When Christ used the word, he gave the analogy of the burning pits outside the walls of Jerusalem where garbage was burned and sometimes the bodies of criminals and apostates were thrown because in life they were so evil that no one would bury them in death. From all the research I've done through historical interpretation, hell is a very real place. It is seperation from God for all of eternity in a place that is both mental and physical suffering beyond all comprehension.

The references to hell in the New Testament are usually references to Gehenna, the dump outside Jerusalem. Gehenna was unclean because the blood of sacrificed humans had been polluted the ground. It was the place for garbage and disposal of dead Gentiles. There were fires that were always burning to reduce the probability of disease.

And, if you read your Bible carefully, you will see that Jesus closed the gates of hell when he rose from the dead. God is a God of love and mercy and compassion for all God's creation. God gives us the choice to respond to that gift but never tries to scare or guilt us into it. From what you say, it seems that the fear of hell is more powerful than your love of God, offered freely in response to the love given you.

"You will burn in the fiery pit of hell for eternity." That statement is wrong considering when you go to hell you will be a spirit without any nerve endings or physical body to burn. If you believe you will burn then you will burn. It is all in the belief in how you prepare yourself for the other side. God loves you. Don't you think that he is going to do what ever it takes to keep you out of hell. Don't panic. You sound like a good person who is really trying, i think that God will take that into account when he looks upon you. Hell is for those who truly are bad. The disbelievers, killers and people who are self righteous in their own minds. God knows the good people from the bad and will sort them out accordingly. As for you i think you will be OK. That's just my opinion though not to confused with God who has his own agenda.

It says that there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Doesn't sound like a place I want to go! Just give your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and none of this will matter!

Not really but I have a great idea of what Heaven will be like. Read the book "90 Minutes in Heaven" by Don Piper. It is such an amazing book. Instead of fretting over going to hell focus on getting to heaven and how wonderful it will be.

It does scare me. I don't even know how to say how horrifying that is for me to even think about. There have been several times in my life where I have felt Jesus' presence in my life more than others but he is always there and always will be there. But I have been trying to get my family to see His love as well.

I agree with Lissajous don't focus all your energy into hell. Instead focus on living your life to it's fullest and have fun. I don't think Jesus would want you to put all your energy into being scared. Instead why not teach young people right from wrong.
