In Germany, people sat on their hands and said nothing while hate speech was spewed across the country. If more people had spoken out against it sooner, it might have prevented the Holocaust.

NO. In the United States, much is made of freedom of speech. For us to be sincere, that must include freedom for people with whom we do not agree. The idea that allowing people freedom endorses their behavior is ridiculous. On the other hand, what do you mean by violent. If their speech incites violence, then it should not be condoned. However, silence surely cannot be considered endorsement, unless you prefer a totalitarian state. If so, move to a Muslim country.

Violent speech should not be tolerated. Thoughts lead to words which lead to actions. Violent speech is the seed that grows into violent action.
Silence is complicity. If we do not speak out for those who cannot speak, then how can we expect anyone to be there to speak out for us?

I would argue that everybody has the freedom and the right to SAY anything they want.
However, if you feel that somebody's words could incite violence, you have the right (and the responsibility) to challenge what they said.
This way, you still have freedom of speech, but you don't just let it go if someone says something outrageous.

I would not go so far as to say it is endorsing it. If so I would be guilty of endorsing a lot of things I don't endorse. Gee, if that was the case you would spend all your time protesting idiots.

I have no idea what violent religious speech you are talking about! Who is using violent speech in God's name? If someone spoke violently in Gods name I would have to pray for that person.

Tolerance today means you accept everyone regardless of their actions. That is why I am intolerant.
