I asked this before but I thought I would phrase it another way, I was involved in a church whos membership consisted of mainly one family and a few other members, anytime a non family member was nominated for a church leadership position, a member of the family would nominate a member of their family for that position and since the majority is family that person would win the election. That seems to me to be at best questionable don't you think? This one family wants to run the entire show, I know my offering won't be to that church anymore. What do you all think?

My family began going to that church while our own Church Ministry reassigns me a new church to pastor, I am a Minister and it just seemed odd that this church would be totally controlled by family. We have attended for about 3 months and after what happened last Sunday in this election process we will be looking for other Houses of Worship.

Had I been this churches pastor I would want to elect people who God leads to do this job, or that job, I don't believe in politics in the church. I believe in Serving the True God, the one who gave his son on Calvary for your sins and mine.

I think in church the main question should be what serves God best. It sounds as if you are in a small church where there are some politics going on. Family playing favorites with their own. I would find a new church where you feel comfortable. However, jumping from church to church is probably not the answer. Visit a few, pick one, and stick with it. Remember, we go to church to worship God, and fellowship with other beleivers, not to serve our need to be in a leadership position. By all means, lead if you are able, but don't let that be your primary focus......God bless.

I too question a church were it is made up of mostly family members. It surely is a good way to keep control over the goings on in the church. The question here really is Why? If the church has been like this a while and the growth is not coming is seems that they have found a way to do things as they wish. Find a church which is more diverse and get involved, become a part.

the church is defined as people who are one in the body of christ. Atleast i think so. So there are no separate families in the church, the church is a single family. One family trying to have a hold on the church may be justified if the re;presentative they are nominating is a qualified person or else it could just be a pride issue. whatever happens, the church is one and should be one and issues of power should never interfere.:)

I agree Kingskid.
My sister is going to one like that where nieces and nephews were placed in positions in the church. I don't think they are doing this now but I personally would not attend such a Church.
A lot of TV evangelists are keeping it in the family also. Examples are Rev. Cherry, Jimmy Swaggart, and Fred Price etc. I always thought you had to be called by God.

There seem to be a lot of small Churches that are actually nothing more than family gatherings.
I'm not saying they aren't serving God but I do question their apparent inability to accept outsiders into the fold.
I must say that I'm not sure Jesus would approve.

If you do not trust your church, attend the other one. Church is the community. Worship is for God. If you do not feel that they serve God right, move on...and pick the church where you get fed spiritually and they keep the Bible as a center of teaching. : )

Well let’s look at the Christian cult and Jesus’ relatives…
John the Baptist = cousin
James = brother
Mother of god = Mary
Father = father
I think I’ve forgotten a few but you get the picture. Anyway that family religion made it big-time.

I think that GOD through The Holy Spirit should run things.
The Holy Spirit should be in Control (Charge) of the Body of Christ (The Church).
And in Control of all get togethers of the Church (Jesus's Body in the Earth today).
GOD sets one up, takes one down, up to HIM.

It def. sounds like CULT to me , that is so strange. If it is church then everyone should be included not just 1 whole family. My advice is to stay away from them unless of course your into that sik ****!
