Because the story is metaphorical. The virgin birth is a commonly-used metaphor to represent the awakening of consciousness (enlightenment experience) where one experiences oneself as not identified with the physical body, brain, and personality (hence, the symbolism of a new realization or new birth that is not of the body). It has NOTHING to do with Mary, mothers, or actual birth. It was used to describe Jesus' and Buddha's enlightenment; literalists then came along and destroyed the metaphor.

King James Version

(Romans 16:17) Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

(Romans 16:18) For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

Contemporary English Version (CEV)

(Romans 16:17) My friends, I beg you to watch out for anyone who causes trouble and divides the church by refusing to do what all of you were taught. Stay away from them!

(Romans 16:18) They want to serve themselves and not Christ the Lord. Their flattery and fancy talk fool people who don't know any better.

Quit blaming the Atheists alone for speaking up against prayer in schools and religious classes in schools. Pagans don't want your religion pushed on our children either. Though it is ignored for your childrens sake, Many things you have your children do are illegal. You think you aree following the words of your Bible and thus you have the right to do anything you wish until you are stopped and then your cry like babies that you are being persecuted.
There is a name for the attitude and actions of most Christians that has been diagnosed by Christian Doctors as well as learned atheists and Pagans. It's name is megalomania. Look it up, it fits the words you constantly place on Yahoo Answers.

May the Gods of all the world and heavens forgive the Christians and cure them.

If you want the Truth.....Ask a Pagan.

Can anyone show me anywhere in any Catholic source that we believe statues are anything but statues? If not, will you finally listen to us when we tell you, like we do every day, that we do not pray to statues?

My mother (who is catholic) and I (who is not catholic, and does not go to church) are attending a Easter Vigil tonight. She has ask for me to take her because she is wanting to get communion.

Here are my questions:
1.) The vigil is at 7:00 pm. How long do one of these vigils
last?

2.) I am going to walk my mother up the aisle to recieve communion. How do I respectfully decline communion? *I cannot get communion because I never was confirmed in a catholic church*

3.) What is the dress code for this vigil. My mother is going to wear a pink top with some black slacks and tennis shoes. *she does not have "dress-up" clothes*. I was thinking of some black pants, boots and a nice top. Will this suffice?

TIA!!!!

If everything must have been created, then god must have been created as well. If god is not created, then everything mustn't have a creator, so why should life or cosmos have one?
