Actually...if you're not one of the chosen few that are to reign in heaven as priest and kings with Christ...you shouldn't take communion.

Cheers! Joking aside, you are supposed to be quiet and somber and meditate on the fact that you are supposed to think that you are really eating the body of christ. It's a clever little socioligical behavior control tool that the church uses.
