Wouldn't that make the church full of sinful people who just think their bad deeds can be forgiven by a prayer? instead of repremanded by society?

In addition animals made "after their kind." How can something be made after, unless something similar existed before? Is Genesis short for genetic engineering? Is rib short for ribonucleic acid?

I have been Catholic all my life and am getting ready to be confirmed. All of the sudden i realized that I disagree with a lot of the things that the church believes in. I'm really torn because I've done a lot of work to prepare for confirmation but I don't want to seem fake. I know there is a world of religions to explore and I'm just so stressed I don't know what to do...any advice?

I've a very religious Buddhist...But I'm not exactly sure how to meditate? I listen to music softly, sit on a pillow in a corner, burn inscense, sit as straight as I can, sometimes close my eyes, and just think about my problems and try to solve them..Is that correct?? I need to know!

First, would someone briefly summarize the story for me, b/c all I know is Jacob wrestled the angel all night. Secondly, can someone explain to me what the moral of the story was? Are there any metaphors? Is there a spiritual lesson to be learned?
Any other great/interesting insight about the story?

Thanks

This is a poem I wrote recently
My Father , my brother , my Saviour

My Father, brother, my Saviour
Jesus, my heart I give to you

No shame in how I feel
Proud to sing your name
You are humble in all your strength
Words of faith bind, do not sting

My Father, brother, my Saviour
Jesus, my heart I give to you

Morning hours, your creations shine
Smiles on our face of confidence devine
We call to you in prayer
Daily steps along your side, glorify your name

My Father, brother, my Saviour
Jesus my heart I give to you

In times of trouble, look above
Know your spirit is full of love
Jesus, Jesus, my heart I give to you

Thank you for taking the time to read this I welcome all and any opions on how you feel of my poem,,,,,By pass

I am doing some research for a new church plant and would like to know, from those of you who either, do not attend a church or not on a regular basis, (once a week), what type of church might you consider going to. Not the denomination but the style or traits you would look for.

ition? When I was a baptist I didn't and it seems most protestants don't either...? for example I see you all referring to apostolic tradition as the rosary or something else... (that's considered man-made tradition by catholics by the way.)

1. When does a "fetus" become a person in your eyes?
2. And why do you think that?

Just curious. Be warned though, I probably will add details as I receive answers. I usually do.

“For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. “And it shall come to pass, from one NEW MOON to another, and from one SABBATH to another, shall all flesh [mankind] come to worship before me, saith the LORD” (Isaiah 66:23,23).

Is the soul a synaptic product of our neurons firing off in our brains? Is it an unconcious sustenence that our spiritual nature is composed of? Could it be a small facet of a larger, universal entity--and would that make it inherently divine or merely a part of a whole? Does the soul exist at all? If it does, does it influence our actions or just carry the weight of them into some afterlife to decide the ultimate fate that our acts determined? If there is no such thing as a soul, can there be an afterlife at all; if our physical bodies are decayed and there is nothing to carry on, can anything?

Eager for viewpoints.

In one of J.P. Moreland's books, he argues that unless we are able to choose our beliefs, our beliefs cannot be rational. He basis that on the fact that our beliefs are either determined or chosen, and if they are determined, then they are not rational.

However, in one of his lectures, he argues that our beliefs are not under the control of the will. To prove his point, he said to imagine somebody offering you a million dollars to choose to believe that there's a pink elephant flying around over your head. He said that even with a million dollar motivation, you couldn't simply choose to believe it, because your beliefs are not under the control of the will.

So which is it? Are our beliefs under the control of the will? If not, can we still be rational?
