Here's an interesting insight. Jacob/Israel was a personification of the Spiritual Warrior archetype. He was one who was able to see God face to face and live.

Well there is not much to tell that you don't already know! Jacob did wrestle with an Angel all night and around dawn the angel touched Jacob's hip and dislocated it an left him. There is no moral to the story because it is history not just a story. It is a factual event that really happened. I don't know if that helps any but that is what happened. Sorry if that doesn't help any.

Salvation gave you a pretty good answer but here are some other things you might want to consider.
The story of Jacob wrestling with God is a picture of a person wrestling with God in prayer. The turning point of that story is when the "Angel" asked Jacob what his name was. This hearkens back to when Jacob which means "deceiver" lied to his father Isaac and told him that he was really Esau. After wrestling with God all night Jacob finally confess that he is a deceiver and God gives him the new name Israel meaning a prince with God or one who strives with God.
In order for God to take us where He wants us to go we have to admit where we are first. We have to confess our sins and then He can lead us in righteousness otherwise we are not operating from a base of truth about ourselves and our relationship with God.

Jacob had been a deceiver most of his life, and he had been deceived also many times. He was going back to the promised land, and he ended up wrestling with an angel so he could be blessed. He was persistent. God encourages persistence in all areas of our lives, including the spiritual. Strong character results from struggling under touch conditions. His name was changed to Israel meaning the prince who struggles with God and prevails. Jacob had cheated his brother Esau out of his birthright, and was going to see him for the 1st time in 20 years. He was really worried about what his brother was going to do to him. His brother did forgive him. We just need to leave all our problems in God's hands, and He will take care of us.

something like calling on God until you get your brake thru. The angel he was wrestling with was Jesus or in the O.T. the angel of the Lord, who shows up several times in the O.T. this would mean the angel of the lord is the preincarnate son. From "what the bible says about Angels" By Dr. David Jeremiah.

If you want to get a blessing from God you really have to pursue it.
