Seder is a Hebrew word meaning "order", and can have any of the following meanings:
* Seder - readings of the Torah according to the ancient Land of Israel triennial cycle. The divisions are called sedarim.
* One of the six orders (major sections) of the Mishnah
* An order of prayers that constitutes a liturgy. See the article on siddur. (Example, The Seder of Rav Amram)
* A related order of prayers within a given liturgy, for example: the sounding of the shofar.
* Passover Seder, relives the enslavement and subsequent Exodus of the Children of Israel from Ancient Egypt
* There is a holiday seder for the minor Jewish holiday of Tu B'shevat, the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Shevat. It is known as Hemdat ha-Yamim and is modeled on the Passover seder.

The Seder is the main Passover ritual, held on the first two nights. There are fifteen parts:
Kadesh- the blessing is made over the wine
Orchatz- the participants ritually wash their hands
Karpas- a fresh vegetable is dipped in salt water
Yachatz- a matza is broken in half. The larger piece is called the "afikomen" and is set aside for later
Maggid- the story of the Exodus is told
Rachtza- another ritual handwashing
Motzi- the blessing over bread is made
Matza- the special blessing over matza is made. The matza is eaten
Marror- the bitter herbs are eaten
Korech- a sandwich of matza, bitter herbs, and a dip called charoset is eaten
Shulchan Orech- meal time
Tzafun- the afikomen is eaten. Often, one person will hide and the others have to find it.
Barech- the grace after meals is said
Hallel- songs of praise are sung
Nirtza- the people ritually declare that they have done everything right. More songs are sung.
