There are countless books for or against religion and on every know sprirituality. Aside from the sacred religious text of your belief system, what one book would you like someone of another belief system to read for a basic understanding of yours?

Do not suggest your bible, koran, etc. they are too in depth for a basic understanding.

I just wanted to take a quick moment to send out best wishes and prayers to our white soldiers who are sacrificing right now in Iraq.

This is a tough time for them and their families, and I would appreciate if you could just spare a moment of your time to let these white families know they are in our thoughts and prayers during this time of need.

Amen

Amen

Sophocles’ play “Oedipus Tyrannus” has been described as the most powerful and terrifying critique of the pursuit of true knowledge ever penned. So long as Oedipus has a false understanding of his origins and circumstances he is highly successful. It is by learning the truth of his origins that he is destroyed.

Is it possible that the pursuit of true knowledge is dangerous? That a false understanding (religion) is better than a true understanding (science)?

Like, when you die what's going to happen to your spirit? here's a story that i know and how i know that spirits exist:
my grandpa was a very heavy smoker. one day, because of that, he had a heart attack. he was on his bed when he died. the people rushed in and did the electric paddles. while they were doing that, he said that he felt his spirit come out of his body and turn over and the spirit him saw his body below and all the doctors working on it. he then saw a dark tunnel and a light at the end of it and he wanted so badly to go to that tunnel. then they did the electric paddles and he was shot back into his body and now he's fine. that proves that there's spirits right?

... the water eveporates to sky, becomes clouds, it rains and the water is back to the river.
Leaves fall from the trees, feed the earth, feed the trees and other leaves pops up.
Flowers die, their polen comes back in another flower.
Fruits have seeds, their seeds grow in the ground and turn into other trees.
A lot more examples in the Nature.

Would you agree that we go through the same process Spiritually speaking? I am not talking about our body, I am talking about our spirit. We live, we learn, we die and then our spirit comes back to life in another body.

I believe in reincarnation. It makes sense to me. What about you?

I don't mean that he's a terrorist, but a Muslim man who's strong it his beliefs: He's strictly a unitarian monotheist, he doesn't believe in the trinity nor salvation through crucifixion, he doesn't perform extramarital sex, he doesn't drink alcohol nor smoke, he doesn't eat pork,...etc.

If you found such a man to be devoted to you and admires you, and you find yourself admiring him, but found out that he has these abovementioned attributes, would you refuse to commit yourself in a long-term relationship (ie marriage) with him?

Only serious answers please.

2 Corinthians 6:14-17 says you can't!

6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and BE YE SEPARATE, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

(Dictionary definition of yoke: To join or tie together, to keep company)

A friend of mine lives in a old house. there have been many episodes when Ihave slept over and woke up in the middle of the night hearing noises like someone is walking around (cause their floor creaks when walked on) but everyone will be asleep. Also my friend's mother in her room has a big crucifix an accross the room a mirror. and the mirror would break right in the spot of the reflection of the cross. this happened 3 different times with 3 different mirrors. Also, we have all been downstairs and heard sounds of walking from upstairs. also, my friend has been waking up the last few mths and notice pieces of her hair have been cut. And i'm not talking about falling out, cuz that would happen from the root. her hair has been cut from the middle and no hair has been laying around or found. it keeps getting worse. huge chunks are being cut now. i dont know what is going on but i need some advice please help. in chicago.

A reporter David Bario in his article posted in Chicago Tribune, Rutland Herald [1] and on several other news websites wrote:

"Under the Bush administration, organizations that promote abstinence and encourage teens to sign virginity pledges or wear purity rings have received federal grants. The Silver Ring Thing, a subsidiary of a Pennsylvania Evangelical Church, has received more than $1 million from the government to promote abstinence and to sell its rings in the United States and abroad."

It seems to me that no one has any morals anymore. Everywhere I go people are using profanity, having sex outside of marriage, divorcing for the wrong reason (we just grew apart is no excuse to break the vows one makes before God), heavy drinking and drug use, etc. I grew up in the 70's and although things were beginning to change then, people still believed in marriage , family, and acting halfway decent. There were those who rebeled , but the majority of the population still had some values. Why does everyone think some immoral things are o.k just because of the year it is? What was so wrong about the 50's? At least families stayed together and crime was lower?

it seems that some are very accepting, while others are more stubborn for lack of a better word.... they don't like you telling them that something is imperative.. even if it is for their good, they dont want to hear that you are telling them they need to change
