2 Corinthians 6:14-17 says you can't!

6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and BE YE SEPARATE, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

(Dictionary definition of yoke: To join or tie together, to keep company)

That may be. Remember that if you do get married you must hate your wife according to Luke 14:26:

"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple."

Christians are the craziest people.

Why is this word 'allowed' always used. Anyway. It is not recommended that a person marry outside their belief, for several 'logical' reasons.
1. Different beliefs could cause major conflict, which could end up destroying the marriage
2. A believer w/ a non believer runs the risk of being led astray from God.
3. Child rearing...self explanatory
However, if a non believer is OK with living and being married to a believer, it is said, do not leave the unbeliever, because the marriage is a blessing to the unbeliever.

Christians can be friends with non-Christians. Just not go to bars with the non Christian or gossip with the non Christian, etc.

But, if one is a born again Christian, should only marry someone else in the Lord. Otherwise, the unbeliever will persecute the believing spouse. And if one doesn't agree who God is, then the Christian is told to shut up about God if God comes up.

That is what I am going through right now. My husband started drinking again and tells me I'm not saved, & I'm good for nothing. He wants a divorse, tells me I'm dead. Of course He was drunk, but I had to go downstairs behind a locked door because he started acting violent. Right now, I don't know if a divorse will happen. We are having our 25th wedding aniversery soon. But it may be our last aniversery.

According to the bible we aren't to marry or enter a holy union with a non believer. As friends I don't see the problem how else are you supposed to witness to people! I have actually had several friends that have come to the Lord that way!

Yes. The Scripture also says, "Let the husband sanctify the wife and let the wife sanctify the husband", meaning that they can lead each other to faith in God if the other party is willing to learn and grow in God.

Jesus said there are two and only two commandments. First, that you love GOD with all your heart and second, that you Love Each Other with all your heart.

Being a good Christian, Muslim or Jew means having so much love in your heart that you are incapable of harming anyone and you naturally want to help everyone.

All the rest is stuff and nonesense.

Not a question. A sermon!

I'm married to a christian, and after 10 years, it's still going fine. But you go ahead and "tie together" with someone like you so you're "equally yoked". Bet you're a lot of fun!

I have many unbelievers who are my friends, but they aren't the people I look to in times of suffering. They look to me. Jesus ate with sinners. I don't do 'sinful' activities with them.

And again, I say, read the whole chapter.

I would never marry a non-Christian...I've dated a couple and it never worked...My current boyfriend is not only a Christian, but we're both pentecostal.

Jesus ate with sinners. If we never spend time with them, they will never know Him. It is possible to be live like a Christian and still have friends that don't know Jesus....Yet....In the words of Francis of Assisi....Preach always...when necessary use words.
