Several atheists seem to also have compassion and love for all of humanity. Yet there are also several Christians who do hateful things in the name of Jesus. I think I would rather associate with the atheists who act like me than the "Christians" who read some of the same books and occassionally speak like me. This does not mean i am thinking about deconverting. It means I would rather get something done and not worry about who wants to help or why.

Is this category a place to pose questions regarding religion and spirituality,

or is it a game, a place to "score points" off the "opposition",

is it a place where you come to meet friends and discuss spirituality,

is it spiritual warfare for you - are you trying to convert souls?

-----

I use this to ask questions regarding spirituality and religion, to try and get answers to my questions.

Period the end.

I am not here to convert souls. If someone doesn't believe the same as I do, so be it.

"...but there are better reasons to help the poor, feed the hungry and defend the weak than the belief that an Imaginary Friend wants you to do it. Compassion is deeper than religion. As is ecstasy. It is time that we acknowledge that human beings can be profoundly ethical “ and even spiritual “ without pretending to know things they do not know.

Let us hope that Stark's candor inspires others in our government to admit their doubts about God. Indeed, it is time we broke this spell en masse. Every one of the world's "great" religions trivializes the immensity and beauty of the cosmos. Books like the Bible and the Quran get almost every significant fact about us and our world wrong. Every scientific domain -“from cosmology to psychology to economics “ has superseded and surpassed the wisdom of Scripture.

Everything of value that people get from religion can be had more honestly, without presuming anything on insufficient evidence. The rest is self-deception, set to music." Sam Harris

should we have a President that is okay with the murder of these precious little ones? Or should we have a President who loves life and will do what he/she can to stamp out this crime against God and humanity ?

Please explain your answers with classical Jewish sources, if you are able; or through your own logic if you are not.

My family recieved horrible news this moring. My cousin had been killed in a car accident. My sister felt that she could still go to school. Upon her arrival, her classmates saw how upset she was. They questioned her, as teenage girls normally do. Upon hearing what had happened, one girl responded " Was he a Christian". Who would actually say that? Who would actually have the gall to suggest to a mourning family member that their loved one is going to Hell? I ask you, how is that in itself loving?

"Within every faith one can see people arranged along a spectrum of belief. Picture concentric circles of diminishing reasonableness: At the center, one finds the truest of true believers - the Muslim jihadis, for instance, who not only support suicidal terrorism but who are the first to turn themselves into bombs; or the Dominionist Christians, who openly call for homosexuals and blasphemers to be put to death."
